Are you gonna raid at all?

Two weeks into the game and I'm 925 power. Got life outside gaming. So far I like what shadowkeep has to offer. Lot's to do but... We all grind towards the raid. Seeing how weapons are "meh" and how heavy mechanically the raid is, I don't see the point doing it at all. By the time my power level is raid ready most raiders are not going to accept me in the fire team. I have enjoyed raids in D1 and rewards were incomparable better. Going in the raid as noob back then didn't matter if you die cause encounter could be finished with one or two Guardians down. It wasn't so stressful to get everything right the first time without being kicked out. No raid weapons are game changer now, not any more. Worth doing it at all? My opinion... "Not". I've seen a few post about raid pulse is good in PvP. As I said... I don't do much PvP. And doing PvE endgame to possibly get god roll PvP gun doesn't cut it for me. I'll go back to old raids again. When you got any raid weapon in D1 that's all you used. It was so good. Of course you gonna be doing raids in hope to get one. I don't see the point now. At least not to me.

  • I would raid more if they 1) did away with revive tokens (being a Guardian, revive is kinda our thing) 2) released three versions of the raid. 2.1) Normal - so we can learn the raid 2.2) Hard - once we’ve learned the raid then difficulty can be bumped up. 2.3) Challenge - for those who want to be the world’s first. 3) a lot less mechanics. Puzzles are okay in moderation, most of D2’s Raids do not interest me because of overused mechanics. 4) less choreographed battles; it’s a epic battle, not West Side Story. 5) the boss needs to move and use tactics, not just be a stationary bullet sponge. 5.1) one of the hardest things is watching a team of players decimate your hard work in little to no time. It’s an eye opener, but limiting your players to only one option to defeat the main boss stifles heroism and creativity. It took me a while to master this balance as a Dungeon Master. 5.2) don’t break the epic battle with phases of boss immunity unless it plays into the story of the battle. This hurts the flow of the battle and thus making it feel like a chore. Just few thoughts... See you star side

    • Not doing them. Never heard any non streamer say they’re any fun. Any gear tied to them isn’t any better than regular stuff or if it is it will get nerfed. I also hate Bungle trying to force me to play. Screw ‘em.

        We finished the first encounter of GoS sacrificing people grabbing bombs until the end. Calling any difficulty at all just mechanics isn't right. In D1, I wasn't a sherpa. I was a carry. I feel much more like a sherpa in D2, and GoS's mechanics giving everybody something to do is a great idea IMO. It's a raid, not a 6 man strike.

        • I think Dungeons fit more of what I want to do. I have 3-4 buddies that I play with all the time, so that really is our "raid". We all have families, jobs, etc. So, for us to sit down and waste 4-5 hours figuring out the 900 mechanics in raids just doesn't work. I've completed all the raids thus far, but I wait until the quickest strat/weapon combo is out and plow it with a clan group.

          • nope. i'm playing a ton more casual now. don't care about raids anymore. watched the videos on the new one. and it just doesn't even look fun. there's no loot that i feel that i HAVE to have. so, no point in me suffering through the crap that is LFG for raids.

            Let's be real. Why should there be raid anything in rewards? Literally like less than 5% of the players actually raid. Raids need an optional matchmaking. Period. End of story.

              • Raids need matchmaking. End of story. Just put it in there, its 2019, every activity in the game should have matchmaking or atleast have the option. And before you say, getting matched with randoms and people dont know what they are doing and blah blah blah. Humor me here, your a solo player and want to raid. You go to the app, create a fireteam and enlist the help of 5 people who you don't know, you don't know there skill set and don't know there knowledge of the raid. ISN'T THAT THE SAME AS RANDOM MATCHMAKING?!!?!!?!!?!? YOUR JUST MAKING ME DO THE WORK! It's so infuriating !

                • Yeah, I am. The new raid is making me look through it with rose-tinted glasses, showing its similar VoG style mechanics, but giving it a twist. Doing it again later today.

                  • I'm a solo player so unless the raids lighten up on mechanics, I won't even watch a "how to do", video. I did however complete all d1 raids except for wrath. I got completely carried through vog twice by various Europeans, I completed kings falls numerous times without a mic and solo'd crota a few times.... Because it was possible with the d1 raids! Everything seems so pressurised and precise now, it completely puts me off.

                      • Probably not. It took me forever to finally get around to doing Leviathan, and that was only because I wanted the Destiny 2 platinum trophy. I didn't touch a raid after that until Moments of Triumph forced me to do the Scourge of the Past, Last Wish, and Crown of Sorrow. Raiding, for me, isn't fun. It requires too much coordination and team work, and I have extreme social anxiety coupled with a lack of friends who play Destiny, thus forcing me to raid with people I don't know.

                        • raids suck ass because of how bungie treats core mechanics and raids in general nowadays. there is no "hard mode"s for the raids besides leviathan, so once you got the normal raid gear, thats it. there is rarely any time where screwing up something doesnt cause an instant wipe (i.e. riven eyeballs best example) revive tokens completely ruin chances of players who dont raid as dying causes a huge detriment to the team theres rarely any unique perks on weapons, like oracle disruptor on the VoG shotgun or knight shield piercing for crota weapons and will of light for kings fall weaponry. in destiny 1 raids were the finale to the game, where you snag a squad and gain cool ass weapons that provide unique benefits nows its just flashy looking weapons that dont do jack shit other then look really cool, sometimes you'll find the godroll weapon from it but i digress.

                          • Right or wrong, everything is this game is designed to make you want or need to clan up. Bungie talks about it all the time in their vidocs. I think they believe if you make friends for life in this game that you are more likely to continue buying content. Peer pressure essentially. Bungie likely thinks LFG is toxic and has upped the mechanics to make it less viable. This has had other consequences, as discussed in this thread.

                            • The resourses used to produce raids (which are exclusive by nature) would be better utilized making more types of content/events that are accessible to more players. IMO, they are a relic of a past gaming era and benefit "content creators" more than the playerbase. Raids, being the pinnacle activities they are, also suck the life out of and diminsh anything else a developer might want to do with PvE. I'm glad the loot in the new one is so meh. Maybe Bungie gets it.

                              • I tried this weekend to try and get the jacket code. Got stuck on the final boss with my last 4 groups. Got really close, but too many things kept us from completing it (I was also burnt out on the last two runs, as I had been playing 6 hours at that point). Was in the raid up until reset today, too. I haven't raided since Warmind, so this new raid [b][i]was[/i][/b] right up my alley. But after not beating it for the code, and realizing there really isn't that much gear I'm missing out on (besides that Pulse Rifle, which I [u][i]might[/i][/u] grind that specific encounter for), I'll probably not raid much, if at all, the rest of the season. 😒 I kinda wanna grind Crown of Sorrow now for a sick armor set, but with the way affinity works with armor it'll take quite sometime to get a whole set I like. Plus, getting a group together that wants to do it. Bleh. 😑

                                • It just sucks that raid weapons have random rolls. People screamed at Bungie to bring back random rolls, but they went completely overboard with it. Raid weapons used to be super unique and powerful. Now they're just random rolled legendaries that look kinda cool.
