Right or wrong, everything is this game is designed to make you want or need to clan up. Bungie talks about it all the time in their vidocs. I think they believe if you make friends for life in this game that you are more likely to continue buying content. Peer pressure essentially. Bungie likely thinks LFG is toxic and has upped the mechanics to make it less viable. This has had other consequences, as discussed in this thread.

LFG is fine until they get to the last boss. From what I've seen, LFG teams wrongly identify Relay Defence as the "easy" job where they can put the weaker players in the group. They'll figure it out, but until they do its gonna be toxic.

Clans aren’t always reliable either. I don’t get many chances to raid with my clan. They do still play, but they are usually doing something else.
-
interesting take on bungie.. and from a marketing standpoint.. I can't disagree with you at all.
-
I mean it’s not nefarious or anything. But they are definitely going all in on it.
-
basically force players together, clans etc.. strengthens bonds through the game, creates a place to contineu to play and then make them work together.. I bet you this is exactly what theyare doing. Bet too they have a psychologist on staff feeding this idea.

They actually had a psychology team when planning D1. There were several articles that discussed it. It was mainly about making RNG and loot systems more addictive. Danny o Dwyer at gamespot did a whole exposé on it.
-
actually, now that you mention it, I remember it.. was like 2013 or maybe 2014 and the article talked about the 50/50 pvp win loss ratio and the loot system and rng etc.. so that peopel would play even if they were terrible and feel good about winning.. totally remember that article now.

Agreed, started my own clan back in july, same 12 people we raid weekly. Iv taught them everything i know that iv learned from LFG groups and now were all about to cross our 100th raid this week. and we beat garden for the first time last night. This game truly is built around playing with the same raiders week in and week out. trying to be a solo LFG sherpa is just a toss up if its gonna be a great raid or a terrible one.

You are lucky. I have always wanted a small tight knit clan. I feel lost in 100 person groups lol
-
i used to run 1 of those clans, its terrible. i told my guys i dont want us to ever cross 25 members and i audit our roster monthly of inactive players
-
having run a massive clan prior to d2 with thousands of players al the way down to small. they each have benefits and drawbacks.. large means people available at all time to play.. that doesn't mean quality or skill and many people will be inactive or non responsive.. a small clan is good for getting to know each other, play and conqur but,... if you want to do something and the other players arn't avail.. you are stuck with lfg with people you have never met, don't play with ever or have never talked too.. I really don't know which is better so however its working for you is the most important part of all this.
