Raids need matchmaking. End of story. Just put it in there, its 2019, every activity in the game should have matchmaking or atleast have the option. And before you say, getting matched with randoms and people dont know what they are doing and blah blah blah. Humor me here, your a solo player and want to raid. You go to the app, create a fireteam and enlist the help of 5 people who you don't know, you don't know there skill set and don't know there knowledge of the raid. ISN'T THAT THE SAME AS RANDOM MATCHMAKING?!!?!!?!!?!? YOUR JUST MAKING ME DO THE WORK! It's so infuriating !

 • And then bungie will dumb down raids just as they're starting to be fun again so that MM teams can clear it easily. No. Run a raid on all 3 of your characters every week, state that there are no requirements to join. No light, experience, weapons, etc. There's your matchmaking experience, come back after 2-3 weeks of doing that. Tell me how it goes, because when I did it, it didn't go well
Raids need matchmaking. End of story.
They don’t need matchmaking.
And before you say, getting matched with randoms and people dont know what they are doing and blah blah blah.
With the app and the LFG Discord, you can actually vet the people that you’re playing with. If you add matchmaking, you’re gonna get matched with a squad of dual-primary, blue rocket launcher toting scrubs with no mics. You’re going to spend 30 hours on every encounter, and people are constantly going to be dropping out and joining in.
Humor me here, your a solo player and want to raid. You go to the app, create a fireteam and enlist the help of 5 people who you don't know
I do it all the time.
you don't know there skill set and don't know there knowledge of the raid.
But you can require that they have clears, or know what they’re doing. Shit, you can even look up their Raid Report.
ISN'T THAT THE SAME AS RANDOM MATCHMAKING?!!?!!?!!?!?
No. Not at all. You’re picking the people you play with, or at the very least filtering them. You can’t equate LFG to random matchmaking just because you haven’t been to CrimS0nK1nG’s son’s bar mitzvah.

 • You speak the truth! Add matchmaking now! If they require a mic then so be it, just add matchmaking, it’s the same as lfg.

 • Matchmaking would be pointless, then you’ll just be spending 20 hours on a raid you will never complete

 • Communication is the issue. I can tell you from guided games that you can and will match with people who have no mic or speak different languages from you. Teaching is a skill that takes work to get good at, but teaching something like a raid without even being able to communicate if you’re on console is next to impossible.

 • It's not so much that random people might not know what to do, it's that everyone needs to be using voice chat or your chances of success go to basically 0%. At least with the LFG tool, the leader can just kick people who refuse to use voice chat, or are trying to troll, etc. If anything, I'd be for the idea of raid matchmaking if it would silence complaints like this, but they would just be replaced with complaints of raids being too hard or impossible to complete via matchmaking. We already have people whinging about the final GoS boss as it is, while random players with no voice chat have about a 0% chance of even getting that far, no matter how experienced some of the individual players may or may not be. You've already gotta devote a few hours to doing the raid to begin with, what's another few minutes spent putting together or joining a group on LFG?

 • Hit the nail on the head. The truth behind many of these complaints is that players who put in the hard work (as far as a game qualifies as "work") figuring out the Raids to the point they can run them EZ-PZ wont then replicate that for all and sundry. Want EZ runs? Git learnin' boiz.

 • What percent of the community does raids? 5%? Add a matchmaking option and that number will double. the more people playing the better. Noone is forcing you to use the matchmaking option and you should have an idea with what you are getting yourself into. Or add an in-game hub where people can go to build teams for raiding. There are plenty of ways Bungie can address this.

 • Gambit sits at 6% player population and it has matchmaking

 • But is a one click matchmaking solution that puts people into a group destined to fail going to get more people raiding? They can raid right now, but choose not to. Using the LFG tool is piss easy to either find a group, or to start your own tailored to exactly what you want to do. I really don’t think that taking a minute to hit up the website is as much barrier to entry as you think it is. The time investment required, the time it takes to learn the raids, fear of being kicked for being bad, or just plain old shyness ARE. People that don’t raid now will continue to not raid even if there is matchmaking.

 • Figures from a few days back showed that out of 2.64 million online that day, 310k were raiding. Of course you have to account for erstwhile raiders not being levelled yet, and the fact that Raiding isnt something many people do day in day out. Tl;dr - the Raiding community is larger than 5% by a fair margin. Its not a majority activity, but then Pinnacle activities rarely are.

 • Well I normally only join people with experience. Also if they don't communicate or decide to troll they can be removed by the fireteam leader. Match making allows for none of these things.

 • add a kick vote option, a strike rule, assign a fireteam leader. Plenty of ways to go about this that other games have implemented .

 • And then people cry because "vote to kick is being abused" "Fireteam leader pulled us out before the boss died!" Etc

 • lol. kick vote.. right.. nothing bad could happen with that at all could it. My thoughts are this.. if you arnt willing to put in a few minutes to either create a team or find one youself, you clearly don't have the patience or time to put into completing a raid.

 • Optional matchmaking. It's really not that complicated. I really enjoy building Fireteams that can take 20 minutes to do, or when the app is keeps crashing.

 • finding your own team.. really not that complicated and requires no time or effort on bungies part that will be wasted on the community when matchmaking for a raid fails.
