Remember when people taught you the raid?

I wish the raid community was like in Destiny 1. I can't stand these raid posts, " KWTD have mountaintop and recluse, have every exotic, run this subclass, do a finisher on everything, have every single weapon in the game, use them all at once, wear every armor set at the same time and have all stats 100 on each piece" I just want to do raids ! • I’ve been teaching raids, a lot of people are cut out for it. I’m sorry man, but if I’ve burned through a raid so many times, you will find it hard to stay at one checkpoint for hours. I just want to get it done, and one person is sinking a whole teams day. Some just wanted to knock a raid out and go about our lives, so if someone isn’t getting it after five fails, and I hardly see improvement, I’m kicking and not regretting. Some people want to be carried, and it’s very obvious when every failure doesn’t teach them something.

    • Gotta love the self-contradicting post. "KWTD have a clear, 940+" and you look at their 924 character, and has no clears.

      • Join a clan. Our clan has completed about 17 runs of Garden since release, helping most of the clan learn the fights so they can teach others. Our clan leader also writes guides on our website so other clans can learn the same strategy we use.

      • Not really... if I'm being 100% honest here. I remember teaching every other person I was with how to raid... but I had to watch about 80% of it myself. I was an avid raider, would raid on all three characters for every era, but a vast majority of those raids introductions weren't taught to me. I figured it out, taught my buddies, then made groups and did constant recaps for those that didn't know what to do.

      • If you really want to do raids you would spend less time ranting and more time watching tutorial videos.

        • I don't mind helping people through the raid but personally for me I want to be comfortable with all facets of the encounters first. Which means playing with others who don't know what to do. For players who are less skilled and need help unfortunately you'll just need to give it some time before more people are willing to help. Add me on psn if you want to be taught. YourMom00123

        • Will teach anyone asking if they do these 2 things make a post asking for help listening to helpful tips and learning from mistakes understanding people get frustrated when they feel like they wasted time as a Sherpa I. Destiny 1/2 when I have time to teach someone not in my clan it’s the hardest part have to take what people say and use it to fuel what is fu for you in game I’ve been called all kinds of things by people from incompetent to a good friend if your looking for help in a raid can reply to this post and I’ll see you star side

        • Yeah, I stopped raiding mainly due to people either not being patient enough to take a newbie through or just being ridiculously incompetent, but tearing into me when I screw up. I'll freely admit I'm bad at the game, which is also a reason I don't raid. But, people being asshats about it doesn't make it any better. Leviathan was the last raid I ever seriously attempted.

        • Everyone umpiring just wants to be carried or is new. I went back to get vex several releases after vog, and lfg was just as bad then for an outdated raids. Anyone saying anything differently is definitely wearing the rise colored glasses. Requirements, people joining to get the checkpoint and bailing, people joining to open the chest and then bailing, people joining and dying left and right while trying to tell everyone else what to do, and on and on. People that think the mechanics are way harder must not have done vog before they were over powered. I know several people that find that out the hard way when the 390 was released.

          • well, that's obviously nothing new, but a lot of that comes from the fact that this raid (particularly the boss) is much more teamwork based and isn't a cake walk to sherpa people through like many of the previous ones were.

            • Do you use the LFG app or are you using the Destiny Sherpa subreddit? Because honestly the Destiny Sherpa subreddit is 100% better than the LFG app because people are willing to teach others how to raid and aren't strict about loadouts. Every time I have used the subreddit I have had nothing but fun times, and made a lot of friends through the Sherpa subreddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinySherpa/

              • D1 was just as bad. Ridiculous prerequisites like must have galley etc. But those rose tinted glasses we put on when we look back at the nostalgic past. We always think what we're going through now is always worse than what we went through in the past. Nothing has changed.

                  • Absolutely. I was one of those who loved to teach. Sadly between my lack of a team, and the way these D2 raid are, I just haven’t had as much patience in D2. The raids are designed in a way where it’s an all or nothing thing. It’s not fun to teach.

                    • This is always an issue when it comes to endgame content. If you are learning how to do the mechanics, you want help from someone who knows how to do it. If you know how to do it, you want to get it done as quickly as possible to not waste time. I LOVE helping people learn the new raids, but I get burned out when I spend hours upon hours trying to teach the same group the same mechanics. Some people are just not meant to do raids. My recommendation, watch a tutorial video and join a group that has looser requirements, because not everyone requires the exact weapon loadout. Ask for clarification on how that group does the encounter, which will give you more input on how to do the encounter, and learn from there. You may not get the raid done the first time, but that's okay. Over time, you will learn the how to do the mechanics. I took a look at your raid.report for reference, and part of the problem is that it looks like you aren't putting yourself out there to do raids at all. When I started Destiny 2, most of my clan did not do raids after about the first month, which made me need to start finding teams for myself. I would put myself into a constant stream of LFG teams that I knew had a low chance of success, but I knew I would get experience by playing with them. Over time, I became a very competent raider. It takes time to get invited to the "KWTD, have XYZ loadout and 10+ clears", but it shouldn't be expected to be in those top tier teams right away.

                    • Yeah I know what you mean. I was doing the boss encounter of the new raid and the team leader wanted me to use Izanagi. I told him I'm more comfortable with a kinetic sniper and Whisper along with Recluse. They were not happy but let me in anyway all the time -blam!- about it in my ears. During the damage phase I was the one doing the most damage (over a million) because I was hitting all my crits. So how you play your loadout is far more important than the loadout itself. People want crutches because streamers or somebody told them.

                      • I personally don't raid at the moment, I did last wish and that is the only raid I have clears in. With that, someone who is posting a LFG for a raid owes you nothing in the same way you owe them nothing. A lot of people have jobs, family, other responsibilities that take precedent over gaming. When that is the case, the time they have to play is limited and cannot be filled in with teaching someone new. Some people can be real d-bags at time, and that may be the case for some, but even so, they are still not obligated to teach.

                      • I agree, but at the same time there are few out there. I went through 5 maybe 7 groups of randoms where either they get super mad at stupid things that isnt in your hands and leave, or get kicked. But there are few out there like the group I was with, really chill ppl who not only did the whole divinity quest, but finished the raid and was patient and everyone kept their cool and helped each other out no matter how many times we effed up

remember when it was just have a basic idea on what to to and to have patience, who would wield the shield fighting the templar and who's going into venus and mars, and don't forget the hilarious crota fight where everyone had to go back up against the wall by the crystal to down him but then on the final bar of health crota enter the room and kill us all. Ah the good ol' days... I miss them
