I know most of you here don't care, but;
April, 17, 1964 was the original release date of the Ford Mustang to be sold from dealerships, launching the Pony Car class of automobiles. It was the car that I first took notice of as a child, and have had a lifelong attachment to.
Since it's release there have been over 10 million Mustangs produced in a wide array of types and performance variants. [Mach-E's are not included, because they are NOT a Mustang. Just ask me, I'll tell you.]
It still surprises me how it is in the top 10 of the longest running car name plates / series, and is still in production. In 1984 Ford was planning on shuttering the Mustang line and replacing it with a 4 and 6 cylinder, front wheel drive, rebodied, and rebadged Mazda's (626, MX-6). This was met with a tremendous wave of disdain and outright hate by the Mustang and Ford community. Which is saying a lot, because all this was done by phone, letters, and word of mouth since social media was not a thing yet. That car still happened, as the Ford Probe, which only lasted for 9 years of production.
Now the Mustang is the only car that Ford produces (US), which is a shame.
Anyhow - Happy Mustang Day!

I had a 1965 for a while, but it was too much of a project for my finances at the time. Rented a '94. It was pretty quick, but the wheel base was too short so it was squirrely under braking, unlike my Camaro. The three most produced vehicles ever were the VW, the Mustang and the Ford pickup. I have a '69 F100 and I've owned five VWs. Okay now for the sob story. During the oil crisis in the 70s I traded in my '64 GTO for a Datsun. At the dealership there was a 1968 Shelby GT500 convertible for sale for $3500. I still think about missing out on that car. $3500 wasn't cheap then. You could buy a new house for under $30,000.

I want to get some kind of mustang some day. But I think the ones past early 2010 look kind of goofy.

Love Ford mustangs, my grandpa had a 68 GT that felt like the most smoothest ride I've ever ridden 💯

60 years to celebrate the production Mustang, the cheap affordable Muscle Car that anyone could buy. Shoutout to Lee Iacocca, John Najjar, Joe Oros, Dave Ash, and Gale Halderman. The Ford Mustang almost was the Ford Cougar, which means there might never have been a Mercury Cougar, there wouldn't be Pony-Cars just Wildcat-Cars. As someone who grew up alongside and even learned how to drive on my Grandpa's 92 5.0 LX Mustang I have to say, its quite the car. His is bone stock its almost got 150,000 miles and still runs like a champ. Fox/SN95 > S197.
