Remember when people taught you the raid?

I wish the raid community was like in Destiny 1. I can't stand these raid posts, " KWTD have mountaintop and recluse, have every exotic, run this subclass, do a finisher on everything, have every single weapon in the game, use them all at once, wear every armor set at the same time and have all stats 100 on each piece" I just want to do raids ! • Laughs at all the raid toxicity for for shooting bots that do the same exact thing every time. It’s just pathetic now. Literally Hrs after release it was “MUST KWTD haven’t beaten it yet” was like dafuq LMAO

  • Reddit has a Sherpa page that’s wonderful for learning raids that new people should be aware of. Join a clan, you’ll get more exposure to content. I can’t stress this enough, be involved.

  • Those people are usually looking to be carried. But Bungie has changed their raid design so that just one weak player can sink the entire team. So few people are willing to risk going with an inexperienced player they don’t know well.

  • Most of D1 raids: pick up X and use it when the time is right to start a DPS phase (templar, crota, start of WOTM) Calus boss: Split into 2 teams. Team 1, kills adds and kills psion team 2 don't call out. Once calus raises his hands weaken his shield to a certain point to get more damage buffs then knock it down before it forces you to wipe Team 2 have to kill psions quickly, call out 3 symbols and navigate safetly to the end, then kill skulls. Then you can do the DPS phase D2 has become more mechanic heavy

    • Bungie designed the raids in D2 in a way so all 6 guardians needs to be alive till the end or it's a wipe. They eliminated all hereo/clutch moments, which is really sad. In D1, 2-3 guardians could save the day in a boss fight at times, made for some great experienses. So in that sense I don't blame people for wanting experienced fireteam. As it stands now, one guardian not doing his/hers job is enough to ruin a raid run.

      • Remember when raids had basic learn-able mechanics instead of horseshit Simon says with glitches sprinkled in for easy completes? Raid design in D2 is ass. It's gamey and boring. Every. Single. One. D1 kinda did the same thing but they were definitely better. When 90% of raids are done with some kind of exploit to cheese something, the raid sucks. Period.

        • Those people were in Destiny 1 too, and I ran into a group that straight up kicked someone during aksis because he didn't stun during empowerment. After teaching 61 people through last wish, I can say the raiding community hasn't changed all that much

          • In GoS it only takes like 30 minutes to figure out the 1st and second encounter on your own, plus it's more fun.

          • I make sure to hop into the raid within 3-4 weeks after launch to make sure I can get an understanding team. I simply type "...0 clears..." and often a lot of people are in the same boat. By doing so, I have absolutely no problem finding 5 more for a run.

There’s a lot of new people. I normally don’t mind teaching raids, but every now and then I just like getting them done. A 30-minute raid can turn into a 6-hour test of patience because of one guy running two primaries and a blue rocket launcher. I run with new people all the time. But, like, come on, dude, if you’re gonna raid at least look into what weapons you need.

                      • The problem i have with Raids in D2 is the rewards are meh. You can do other activities and get similar weapons. Training people to raids in the past was fun in D1. It was fun guiding someone through there first raid completion. With D2, they put time constraints on EVERYTHING. If you stop for a day to explain someone through one event, there is a good change you wont be able to reset your valor 5 times in a season, or grind a weapon that is leaving at the end of a season. The reward system is busted in D2. Just let me play the way i want to play and give me equal rewards for playing that way.

                        • Its not the raid communities fault its bungies raid design imo raids should be forgot about they are wasted time investment for players and bungie only 3% of the playerbase plays them bungie needs to stop wasting time making raids and use that time to make better content that the all playerbase will enjoy

                          • I think you are being over dramatic. Some people don’t want to do a raid for 8 hours explaining every little detail to someone who doesn’t know what to do or can’t pull their own weight. It’s a video game not a charity

                            • I used to teach people Raids. There are two reasons why I stopped. First, time constraints. I work afternoons into the evenings on weekdays. Severely limiting my playtime. I would like to feel that I'm making progress towards something when I'm playing. Yes, Raid are very much worth doing. But throw in having to explain every encounter, a few runs to reinforce what's going on, and the actual run where the encounter is completed, and each encounter can easily take over an hour to do. Next, people not owning up to messing up. This is something a lot of people do, but it seems to be more common with people who aren't familiar with the Raid. It happens so often, and it makes me mad every time. Before starting an encounter, we ask if everyone knows what's going on, everyone says yes, we start, something happens that causes a wipe, we ask what happened and who did it so we can try to stop it from happening again, and no one owns up to it. So what happens next? Everyone starts blindly accusing others, people get upset and start arguing back, everyone's too busy trying to prove that they got the biggest pair in the Fireteam to even pay attention to the encounter, leading to countless wipes, more yelling, and eventually everyone rage quitting. It's a video game. It's meant to relieve stress from your daily life, not cause more.
