I'm surprised Bungie didn't learn their lesson after the VoG. If a checkpoint won't dish out rewards players will skip to the next checkpoint. That's what happened in VoG and that's what's going to happen in CE.
Instead of a chance for gauntlets after the lamps and a chance for boots or chest after the bridge they should have moved one of those to the Deathsinger fight.
They should have set it up for a change at gauntlets after lamps, chance for boots after bridge, chance for chest after Deqthsinger and chance at helm after Crota. Makes the most sense to me, and it ensures no checkpoint is skipped.

Perhaps they mistakenly believed that players would actually derive some enjoyment from the gameplay and the challenges it presents and not reduce the game to naught but a loot hunt?
