If you're wondering why there may be hostilities between Microsoft and Bungie, then clearly you know nothing of the history between the two. There was a lot of tension between the two companies over the course of the production of the Halo franchise. You could easily find a couple videos on youtube that explain the struggle over development of Halo 2. I'm sure it only got worse as the original trilogy concluded and Microsoft wanted to make more. So when Bungie found a way out by splitting the company and giving up their franchise, they were probably in dire need of funding to make a new game, and probably the last thing they wanted to do is come crawling back to Microsoft. Also, I think it's likely Microsoft wouldn't want to support their next project anyways since Bungie found a way out of their corporate noose. So Playstation says hey we'll give a substantial amount of money to fund development as long as we get exclusives. And here we are now.

Oh wow, somebody that actually knows the truth and understands the history. Good on you for schooling them :) The only thing I could add is that Bungie's vision for Halo was to be purely online, like Destiny, and Microsoft didn't want to go for it at the time. A smart move obviously. Having worked myself for Xbox and Microsoft on Halo launches specifically for a few years, I can support this theory and everyone should read up on it.

  • This has nothing to do with bungie. This was a deal through activision, a bidding war that Sony obviously won. It literally happens all the time. Microsoft gets cod stuff first, generally, because they pay activision for it. Ditto with Sony and ubisoft. People are really grasping at straws trying to make something out of this.

  • No, the post above is accurate. It has to do with Microsoft and Bungie's creative difference and opposing visions for the future of Halo franchise.

  • ...what? Bungie wanted to move on from Halo because it had been developing the same franchise for the last decade. Microsoft wanted to make more because, obviously, it's a gold mine. I mean, Bungie was already putting in Destiny easter eggs into Halo games before they left.

  • Ok but to say it has nothing to do with Bungie is incorrect

  • Yeah, no it isn't. I can guarantee you Bungie doesn't care who they're developing exclusives for. Hell, they barely put any effort into them anyway. There is absolutely no story here, but feel free to continue regurgitating the same narrative. It won't make it true.

  • Makes complete sense. In essence more people should be pissed at Microsoft than Bungie. I think Microsoft loves that their fanboys are bashing Bungie so much.
I own a PS4, last gen was 360. I have no love for Sony, and I have no love for Microsoft. I don't like fanboys of either brand. Sorry I always have to add this.
