It was a deal with Activision, same as the CoD exclusives. Microsoft's big money makers are CoD & Halo along with a long list of other exclusive games (most only available to Xbox consumers). They would rather direct their money towards something they knew would return the profit vs something new that could be great but could just as likely fail. Thats how they look at it. Microsoft actually has bungie stocks and has a great relationship with the company. All we can do is hope that we get the exclusives next time around and if we don't, it's not a big deal. I mean, when/if this "Comet" expansion releases, we get 7 new strikes vs just the 4 that PS will get. Yes it's because they already have it but in terms of content, it will sure feel like we are getting a lot more which I'm glad for.
Edit: look at it this way, Sony paid for more content to be developed for destiny along with exclusive marketing rights. What does that mean for us? They paid for us to get more stuff, we just don't get it for a year
