Wait I'm missing something, what game mechanics did the game tell me about? I was just told to scan and shoot, I was never given any helpful or enlightening info.

All your basic unlocks how to jump, throw grenades, use your super. That's it really.

It briefly tells you how to read the Nav UI when you get the Sparrow, if you don't accidentally dismiss it.
