I found out online and verified in the game, that there's a critical ability every player has access to that the tutorial and controls don't tell you about.
I am talking about Destiny's cover system.
Yes, that's right, Destiny has a cover system that few know about, and is never mentioned in the tutorial. It's easy to perform and it's extremely useful for all classes.
The way the cover system works is that you go find waist-high or higher cover, something you can see over while standing. You get behind this cover, then you crouch, and when you want to fire at the enemy you just need to AIM DOWN SIGHTS and your character will pop up over the cover AUTOMATICALLY to fire. When you want to get back under cover, just RELEASE the aim button and your character will automatically duck down again.
WARNING: Your character will only pop up while aiming to shoot, you CANNOT ADS and then toss a grenade, or your character will drop back down and throw it at your cover. If you want to throw a grenade from cover, you must stand up and throw it, then crouch back down behind your cover.
Edit: make sure to like this topic and give it a bump for other Guardians to see.

Edited by xOx010xOx: 2/6/2015 4:37:02 AMTrue. Among my clan / friends there seems little knowledge of this. And the grenade issue sucks. That needs a fix. Rate, fools.

Wow I knew about this in the beta and people are only just finding out about it
-
Works great against ta'auric. Little shield type things on the upper balcony, easy way to beat him.
-
-
I honestly did not know this.. Thank you..:)
-
I thought everyone knew this... NO ONE KNEW THIS?!?! Oh well, might as well tell them about the slow trigger pulling on Handcannons... Yah... Check out that animation.
-
Isn't this sort of common knowledge? Lots of shooters use this. Is this a troll?
-
Been using this for weeks! I thought everyone knew. Especially useful for valus ta'aurc
-
neato but that's for casuals
-
I knew this the first day I played. I didn't even have a guide. That said, I thought it was pretty much the coolest thing ever.
-
I knew this. I was blasting away at phogoth and found out a while ago.
-
This can be used as well when, jumping and then aiming over any object your head would reach at peak jump.
-
Use less mechanic
-
I noticed this in the tutorial, but I haven't found a good use for it. If it added a ton of stability and range to weapons fire then it might be worth it in some instances, but as is I never use it.
-
Hes right ^ i use it all the time ., only figured it out two weeks ago
-
Knew that. I use it against taalus tuaarc and sekrion and even phogoth. Good in night falls usually. Not against dregs and hobs though they spam nades like it's cod
-
Huh, how bout that. That might be helpful to know in the future.
-
Been playing since launch...never knew this. Also never seen anyone pop out of cover....
-
Ok tbh I through everyone knew aswell, my mistake, Everyone know the fusion rifle bounty vex?

Don't know if this is well known or not, but you can't be detected on the radar while crouching in crucible. Hard Light penetrates through Ward of Dawn slightly. Your Ghost can open doors that don't normally open. (Try pressing select while next to a door that can be opened while only in a mission.) You can boost your sparrow by quickly releasing and pressing the boost button. (Don't let the rockets go out.) You can sprint a bit to shorten the reload process for mini guns. (Only works as soon as the number changes.) Speaker emblems increase your chances in being invited to raid parties because the emblems are slightly brighter, attracting the human eye.
-
Here are some real tips some don't know about. When using a warlock triple tap jump to do a quick boost jump. When using a heavy and you want to quickly change to your special weapon (secondary) double tap "Y" or w/e PS equivalent is.

Dodge duck dip dive and dodge

Destiny mythbusters covered this like two months ago, but kudos for finding it on your own. Next try sitting down when running from axiom bolt. That one is hilarious. I keep forgetting to do that in pvp.
