You're found in a car that appears to have been in a traffic jam at the Cosmodrome. The implication would seem to be that you were trying to flee the Collapse onto the escaping ships but got caught. Which explains why you're familiar enough with high tech stuff to function in the world. Being an Awoken doesn't seem to fit in logically, since they apparently were on the escaped ships and didn't become a separate race until post collapse. Along with the story explicitly stating them as unknown to you, which makes no sense if you are one.

Like I said, it implies that you died sometime between the collapse(centuries ago) and the events of Destiny. You could've come back to the traffic jam because you have on armor when you died so theres that possibility.
