Our character did not die before the discovery of the traveler. We died at the end of the Golden age most likely protecting ships leaving the planet. That's why you find awoken in the reef, they survived/escaped the war on earth. It's also nice to think your character was Dr. Shim, go play the archive mission on venus.

No way a computer could get a reading on you in an environmentally sealed armor suit and you didn't touch the control.
