An item like the vex is a symbol in an MMO.
It says that you have patience, skill, and dedication. It's the game's way of showing other players your status.
When it can be attained through cheating, it has lost its status since it can no longer be distinguished if you are a God amongst men or just a cheater. Most people will not give you the benefit of the doubt.

In a game where NO ONE can communicate unless partied it REALLY doesn't matter what anyone thinks lol. It's like being judged by a deaf-mute person or a mime lol. Spot on man.
