DeeJ,
I have waited for destiny for a long time and had high hopes, but now you have proven to me that you have no idea what players want. This patch/suicide note, is absolute crap. I was a good little fanboy, I was willing to overlook the flaws in story line, gameplay, crap PvP, and mission design (yay protect dinglebot again while he performs a task that takes the storyline nowhere, I love this one!) I was even willing to overlook the insane bullet absorbing ability of every boss, and the fact that higher difficulty just meant adding oversheilds and even more damage absorbing powers, instead of a need for a new strategy. I was even willing to find 5 other players who had high levels, and enjoy dealing with frustrating glitches (oh look the portal didn't teleport me when I stepped through it again, guess that's a wipe guys, let's start over) and all because I wanted the best weapon in the game, you know a weapon that said "this guy went through days of the gaming equivalent to water boarding to get that, he earned it" so that you could nerf it by a third! Screw you bungie!
With great skill comes great reward, or now in this case with great skill comes the same stupid garbage that everyone else can find on the ground from a lvl one enemy! Do you understand nothing about what motivates gamers, and especially MMO gamers? We want that item that wails on people and does more damage than any other, because we earned it! The sense of accomplishment after doing the immposible and then having others recognize what you have achieved. It is the same reason we level in the first place, so that we can go back, find the mobs that killed us before and destroy them utterly, and in record time! (Btw you screwed that up as well, I shouldn't need to shoot a lvl 5 mob 4 times to kill them at level 29, they should explode, and peices of them should rain down on me as if its a blessing from some wrathful God. Also level 5 mobs should cower in fear of me, and hope that I do not turn my gaze upon them lest they are destroyed. What they shouldn't do is jump in my face like they did when I was a level 3) In short bungie, all of your weapons suck and need to do more to make us feel powerful in PvE when we reach endgame, they do not need to be nerfed, simply increase the ones you failed on.The enemies beneeth my lvl should act like it, they should act like we had to when we saw a level 25 and were only a lvl 10. (we ran away, fast, or were cut down with barely a wave of their hand, and we could do no damage to them.... at all......even with rockets!)
Bungie you have just turned a game that I was willing to forgive almost anything and justify its flaws to anyone....into my next trade in at gamestop. Once upon a time Xbox had a game called chromehounds and it was perfect for a year with a thriving online community, then they listened to the 10 year olds whining about it not being fair that people who worked for 400 hours had better gear than they did and could kill them, so they patched it to make it more fair to the newcommer who had invested no time and earned nothing, and the game died in under a month, please take this lesson to heart. As for myself and my clan, we want to stay and play for years but if you reward our loyalty and hard work (not to mention endless hours of raiding) with nerfing our loot, and ruining our clever strategies on raid we will go where we can get that feeling of accomplishment again, and you can pander to the casual gamers that are going to stop playing your game in 2 months regardless of what you do. Games where you level are meant to give advantages for leveling and games with Raids (MMOs) are supposed to have overpowered rewards for doing insane things on insane levels. Basically you have made the Raid even more difficult and reduced the reward for it, and taken away the aspect I liked most about the raid which was it forced players to be clever, to find ways to beat him that you did not intend (since you clearly intended for every boss to have the same strategy, dump enough ammo to cut the great prymids in half while avoiding getting shot and destroying the adds) let us face the truth, going from level 29 to level 30 is a tiny reward and it means shredding all the gear you bought or found for gear with very similiar stats and a slight defense bonus or worst case you end up with stats like "Increases shotgun ammo" when you hate shotguns and would rather use anything but that, to kill an enemy. If players whine about being killed in PvP too much by the Vex Mythoclast then here is a novel Idea... GO GET A MYTHOCLAST YOU IDIOT! The whole point in beating the overly difficult raid on 30 (soon to be almost immposible) is to improve.
This game just turned into a little league soccer game where "everyone is a special little snowflake, and nobody keeps score because no matter what you do we are all equal" So I am done excusing this game and may be done with it completly very soon. If this game had come out without the Bungie name behind it, it would currently have a score of 20/100 instead of 77/100 and you just took away all the incentive to play, by breaking any reason to participate in the ridiculously difficult endgame content. I beat level 30 Raid five times with the help of my very skilled clanmembers and can see no reason at all to beat it a sixth time. My disaspointment is only surpassed by your shame bungie. I hope you learn a lesson and spend more time fixing issues and creating new content (which of course you will then divide up and sell to us in ridiculously small increments) and stop destroying the few parts that already worked. Perhaps even try out a game that includes bosses more complicated than those found in "Contra" (bosses can absorb more damage and deal more damge with each level) and more mission depth than found in pong (defend stupidbot, and activate horde mode are not your only choices bungie, I promise). Right now you have held all of us hostage with the promise of great things in the future but crap in the present. When the Cryptach did that you said you took him to the woodshed, So take this as your trip to the woodshed and learn your lesson, if I wanted to play a game where everyone is equal and has the same gear I will go play call of duty. If you want me to spend years leveling up and "becoming legend" than reward me accordingly! You are Bungie, now act like it.
Edit: Some sort of response from Bungie would be greatly appreciated, so DeeJ if you read this drop us a line, I am sure everyone is more interested on what you have to say than they are in what I have said, I for one await your response eagerly, even if you just say "I read this" Thanks.
Edit: Day 3: Bungie, DeeJ, Your silence is becoming deafening.....

Sooo many things could have came from this game, just the basic concept of the game left bungie open to ENDLESS possibilities. The story behind this game could have been an instant classic, I expected so much more. I expected to spend hours adventuring and discovering new places and things and killing tough bosses in many different ways with many strategies. But, it's just a repeat constantly. Find boss, dump ammo. I understand there's only so much you can do, but bungie is thinking to much about "how can we make money off of this" and not "how can we make this the greatest game to date" If only they would listen to the community. Little things, like... A barber shop. Maybe some would say it sounds dumb, but it's a MMO. It's little things like that that can set characters apart and make them feel individual. Also as the author of this post said, why do low lvl adds try to attack me, lol... They're a advanced alien race. They can space travel, I'd i could space travel I think I would be smart enough that when I see a man with flaming hands one handing a massive machine gun, I would run like hell. The bosses are just bullet sponges, the adds are just idiots. The cabal for instance, "800 pounds and highly militarized" The cabal are the absolute, without a doubt biggest (profound language, P word)ies I have ever seen in any video game. The turtles in super Mario put up more of a fight. I realize I got off track and just started ranting. But it's obvious little things like that that just ruin the game. I know at least a handful of you in the community feel the same like way.

IV have been playing this game for about 2 weeks, almost 20 hours per day, killing about 1500 fallen etc every day, I am now a lvl 27 almost 28! grinding, killing, finding. Using the Internet to find the easiest way to get something, HOWEVER this game feels more and more lika a cheap game app for your phone, where you actually need to invest real money if you want to play any further. Reaching lvl 20 was hilariously easy, reaching lvl 30 isn't hard, but it takes FOREVER. My drop rate for asendent energy and shards are not even 1%. I never played WoW, when I bought destiny I thought that It would kick ass and that my next gen would the one I bought destiny for. But I don't want to play a game that's like a cheap app for your phone that's makes me wait until the cake is complete in 10 days time to not get any rewards from it, if I get 1 exotic I want it to resemble, anima from ff10 (damage/OVERDRIVE ) that makes you feel whoo this gun is the ULTIMATE CLASS, I don't want it to do the same damage as a lvl 1 weapon/armor, I got the atheions epilogue on the raid and I am perfectly happy with it, till you nerfed the damage for auto rifles

We should fix this before we continue loosing all of our players that would still be on the game after Call of Duty is released. Listen to your PVP players Bungie, they're going to be the first to leave you guys. Then the PVE players are going to get tired of the mess those CoD players left behind, and we will slowly be leaving with them. Apologize to the community and fix your mistakes now while you still have the chance and a community.
This is the power dynamic that the majority of your players are used to, Bungie. Take Notes. If you pull tropes like "level" and "equipment rarity" out and try to tack them onto a PvE gunplay system while simultaneously preventing them from actually influencing the world so that PvP mechanics can run trippingly along without any significant variation between players, you're making a lot of work for yourselves in the complaints department. You tried to buck the genre, and you built your worlds on the assumption that we would care about loot and levels even if they didn't actually do anything for us; that we would embrace a shooter that looked a little like an MMO/RPG if you held it up in front of a really bright PR spotlight and turned so it sparkled, but was actually still just a shooter where everybody has the same stuff and relative power no matter how much they play. Sometimes those outside-the-box gambles are rewarded. Sometimes. Does it feel rewarding yet for you, Bungie? Because for many of your PvE focused customers (the ones who will buy your planned DLC full of PvE content)...not so much. Are your PvP focused customers going to pay your DLC asking price for a map pack and a handful of new weapon skins with sanitized combat stats? It's not too late to take a different path.

I knew they would nerf vex mythoclast. Did not expect a 1.1/3 nerf though. Its still beastly in PvP. Bit yea. Wonder if they realized the Nerf carried to pve... Wtf r they on the dark side. If it were me controlling the nerf. I would a either just added a short charge. Since that's what fusions do.. They charge. Or made its stability bad./ worse. 34% overall everywhere was overkill. My god. Its like nuking a town of 1mil ppl to take out a stray cat..... Lol. Just laughed to myself... Bumb the shit out a all his stuff. I don't want destiny to go bland after 6 months after I waited almost 2 yrs for it. Guess I'll turn back into a wowhead of it does. Least there shit stay challenging and has been since 13 ish years ago.

Bump like crazy!! Bungie READ ALL OF THIS AND ALL OF THE COMMENTS!!!!

(we ran away, fast, or were cut down with barely a wave of their hand, and we could do no damage to them.... at all......even with rockets!)
^THIS !! This is my biggest pet peeve with the game. I'm used to MMO or RPG elements and based on beta, alpha and the idea of character progression and Levels I "assumed" this game would work as other games in those genres. Boy was I wrong. I thought it would be similar to borderlands, final fantasy or heck even legend of Zelda. Fight a high level enemy and get beat bad, you go out explore, level up more, get better gear and come back and wreck them. But when I'm now level 29 and I go back to the cosmodrome and get gang -blam!- by four level 4 dregs my head starts spinning. WTF?! Sure maybe I should pay a slight bit mode attention, but level 4s?!!!! Really??!! and it takes the same amount of bullets from my exotic rifle to put down a level 4 as it did 40 hrs ago when I used a level 4 white common rifle ?!! WTF ?!! How does that work. Really does NOT make me feel powerful, or legendary or even exotic. Very very very weird. But whatever. It's obviously YOUR game Bungie. And based on your constant nerfs, removal of loot caves, or "unusual tactics" on raid boss changes with new kill spots (aka your not playing OUR game the WAY WE want you too) it's clearly still YOUR game. It's NOT our game....it's NOT the players game. It's Bungies game and we shouldn't forget it. But really, WTF is up with the levels thing??!!

Just because you got something, doesn't mean you get to wreck everyone without trying. Get good and aim for the head while you're at it.

This. This can't be ignored by Bungie, the entire hope of this game lies in this post. I can't help but think that nobody at bungie ever delved into an MMO extensively before developing this game. Every MMO has a huge rich story. Every MMO has overpowered weapons and armour (which are notably hard to obtain.) Nobody complains about them being overpowered, because the entire player base knows they damn well worked their asses off to earn it. This bullshit RNG system is so helplessly flawed, you could have at the very least introduced some kind of rolling system where everyone has a fair chance at the exotics available similar to WoW's system. Now, as stated in the original post, many of us have come to terms with the mind numbing bullet sponges that a Rambo/Bruce Lee/Chuck Norris hybrid would have trouble taking down, but when you give us no reward at the end, well, haha. That's what gets us. WHAT GAME WITH ANY KIND OF LOOT SYSTEM AT ALL HAS BOSSES THAT DO NOT DROP LOOT? Answer me this. You want us to grind? We -blam!-ing grind. I am sick of grinding for no reason. I am a maxed player on Runescape. I have 5 level 90s on World of Warcraft. I was completely confident in my ability to tackle any grind that a developer in this world could create. I am no stranger to investing time into games, but only ones that will reward me for it. I have not yet completed the raid, and now I wouldn't even bother looking up a guide. Also, I don't know if you've realized? But a lot of the gear, armour wise, is ugly as shit. The Hayabusa armour kills anything you've designed in this game. Now I won't completely bash it all, there are those few warlock helms here and there, and some titan chestplates, but they are likely filled with useless perks/stats. How about future content that lets us switch a couple minor perks off of our guns for other ones, you want the guns we like to use to fit our playstyle, so help us out a little. What if I feel like trying for some old fashion richochet no scopes? Let me trade some accuracy for that bouncy bullet perk on this other gun I have. I'm not saying let us switch the overpowered perks, just the minor ones. How about some kind of transmogrification system also? Please Bungie, you can do better. You HAVE done better. Bungie, all I originally wanted was the God of War shader. I was happy playing through the flaws, even though I die more in this game than in either Dark Souls game. But somewhere along the way you managed to tickle my interest enough for me to keep playing, but I feel as though you're taking me down a dark spot in my gaming history that I'm not sure I want to bring to fruition. P.S: Bungie, you have to acknowledge that not everyone in the world has enough money to support activision's ruthless money schemes AND buy next gen consoles. For those of us that have, lots of our friends haven't. In fact, I am the only person out of my entire circle of real life friends that has a next gen console (PS4) and plays the shit out of destiny. It isn't fair that you restricted us from participating in the raids and being an effective team player in the Crucible by limiting our chat to a ripped off dance from another game, a useless point gesture, and to sit down and afk. Hmm. Bungie I really love your work, all of it. Halo 1 straight through to reach, and I honestly believe halo is the pinnacle of first person shooters. There is no other game I've enjoyed online multiplayer in as much as Halo 3. As disappointed as I am to say it, Destiny just wasn't what you described it to be, and you have to understand and admit that. You said you were going to give us a giant, vast universe to explore, but anywhere I want to go restricts me like the arena of the second Hunger Games book. We're out here fighting for our districts in a pointless dome of death. Too many invisible walls, just LET US EXPLORE THE WORLD YOU CREATED. Too little interaction, we are guardians of the last city on earth. We need to COOPERATE. And last, but certainly not least, we need more npc interaction. More questgivers, instead of those flashing beacons, put an actual npc there with a little bit of dialogue explaining what their crisis is, or what if they need an escort (yes, your bland gameplay has even escort missions looking luxurious.) We're dying for some depth here, come on. Even if it just means going and picking up a couple spiritblooms for a wanderer's ailment. Or killing 40 cabal while they attack a little helpless settlement that is trying to thrive on what is left of mars after the.. Wait a second, I don't know what happened. Xoxo, Loyal Bungie enthusiast who would greatly appreciate future dlc for new ghost scripts by Samuel L. Jackson. "Don't just stand there! Kill those mutha-blam!-as while I get this gate open!"

What happened when people were fine with everyone having the same capabilities, the same guns, the same perks. No special abilities and modern day guns. COD: Modern Warfare 2

Honestly the nerfs changed very little. So I'm not sure what the fuss is. The real problem with destiny is complete RNG

This is the best post I've read since the nurf and I agree with everything. The PVP fanboy posts below hating on the post are typical. Get this haters in the history of MMO both PVP and PVE cannot be balanced together it's just not possible. Bungie should have a load balancing effect on gear. Standard crucible should have damage debuffs applied so that there is no >max output. Each weapon type should have one. And events which advertise 'POWER MATTERS' like the Iron Banner shouldnt. Where as PVE should have its increased output. The whole point of raiding is progression, have a blast with mates and acquire the most sought after loot in the game. Become LEGEND!!! It's the whole selling point right. Raid ... Gear up and then complete the end game content! The events and patches/hot fixes are a joke to say the least. The "we need to sow rainbows and try to keep everyone happy" approach they are using is clearly not working. Hopefully there will be some good news from Bungie soon. It's getting boring FAST.

Aaah forget it m done later chaps.

Quit begging for a response its pathetic

Please read this bungie... your fans are hurting

agreed mate, fix this sht bungie
-
I completely agree with you. Nicely said! It is true, Bungie is catering to the kids who can't cope with challenge. We are in a world now where everyone MUST be treated equally to avoid someone from being left out. This creates mediocrity Bungie!!!! Soon, everyone will have all the same weapons, full powered. There won't be any uniqueness other than perhaps rooster hats and grenade boobs! Exotics should have been earned!!! The feeling of an accomplishment means didly if there is no REAL goal to achieve. I've been playing video games since pong. Games like Call of Duty BORE me to death!!! I was hoping Destiny would at least be equivalent to Halo. They should have either put their "A" team on it instead of their "C" team. It's mostly mindless, repetitive, repetitive, repetitive. Yes there are some cool things but I'm certainly getting disinterested fast! A game shouldn't be about collecting toys. It should be about accomplishing an impossible feat! Something that takes time, patience, ingenuity.

I don't think they understand the perception their silence brings. If they don't talk it look damning whether true or not.

Edited by QuirkyViper: 10/17/2014 12:19:33 PMDestiny: become nerfed Destiny: become average Destiny: become rare I kid because I care^^

I was patient till yesterday buh now its just hatred towards this game took all my hardwork with one patch without any consideration to pve players and to cater to 10 year olds on pvp who would not even dream of givin normal raid a go.

Rite on man u rock brother u said it all and with punctuation especially the soccer part please continuously repost this

I have no words and u just nailed it bang on and to be honest m8 i get a feelin they dont care about us pve players at all otherwise we would have had a reply by now.

Edited by vozzici: 10/17/2014 12:25:03 PMOh hell ya! I just got the Vex Mythoclast! All my enemies will cower in fear and run for their pathetic alien lives MWAHAHAHAHA! Time to test this baby out. *laser noises* what the heck, what is this feeling... I just feel so... Average. Is this the right gun, the one you get for defeating the ultimate bad guy, the one gun that combined with my skills will make me legend? I guess I'll just let it collect dust in my vault with the rest of my less-than-interesting exotic weapons. Oh, and to AvA newbie (guy who started thread), thanks for expressing what I'm sure a lot of people feel (including me). Hopefully Bungie will take notice.

The head of a nail, you just hit it sir

It's not often I want to use the report function to honor someone else. In-game, they have that feature. This is the second time I've wanted to use the honor report ability on the forums. Also would like a Mail Directly to Deej's Inbox button. This had better be read in front of a whole board of Bungie devs, and get them to get their act together. I was a fangirl once... but I just can't take this anymore. Being punished for playing the game. If I'm not supposed to be playing it, Bungie, what else am I supposed to be doing? Not playing? Okay, if you say so, but I don't see how this helps your business...
