Some fixes are good or ok.I use the shotgun and I have to be within ten or less feet for any effective damage.a real shotgun 12 gauge has an effective lethal range of 30-50 yards depending on ammo type. Destiny shotguns look to be 3-4 times the gauge just off width of barrel..this patch drops effective damage range by 20 % not cool at all

The US military doesn't even use shotguns for standard combat training... they are simply not dynamic enough. Their fine when someone is 20ft away, but useless when your enemy is 200 ft away or further. Quite honestly, shot guns shouldn't even be in military shooters taking place currently or in the future.

They do actually, almost all military and police forces do and in a variety for different purposes.the information is online as well

The reason shot gun ranges are always so limited is the same reason ak-47s can't be accurate at the measley ranges most fps maps stretch. @ 200 yards an ak-47 is plenty accurate... shot gun ranges are no more nerfed than any other gun in these games. To be honest, I've been killed by a shotgun in PvP from well beyond the ranges of most games.

The military uses them for breaching... their mainstay is still the m4 carbine, even after the breach. If combat was nothing more than clearing houses and building, I'm sure that shot guns would be more viable, but they are too limited. I used to schedule ranges for a mobilization platform and I can tell you, the shotgun is not used for standard combat, nor are soldiers qualifying for that firearm on ranges. Of the hundreds of ranges I scheduled, only once was the ammo requested for 12 guage buckshot. Notice how light they make shotguns in FPSs? Pick a loaded combat shotgun up sometime and tell me you'd rather have that over a carbine.

They have the automatic shotgun on the active duty equipment list but past that all i know is they're useless in desert warfare, but this game isn't military very military based
-
They can have the AA12 for all I care, I'm telling you, they don't utilize shot guns in open combat. Beyond breaching, they have little to no role as a platform.

The dude said they don't use them, i said they do so do the police.American military may not go bucking people at the moment but they have and will again.otherwise this post was about the lethal range on a shotgun especially combat grade hardware.why when any military based thing is mentioned... everyone says Merica.thats not the only military in the world nor the only application of modern ranged wepons. Thank you for you military service and you're experienced input.this is a futuristic game with almost no military base in the last city in the world and they utilize the shotgun as a combat weapon thats why I was complaining about it,because I have hands on experience with multiple types, calibers, and versions of a variety of guns I was raised around them and my father and oldest brother served.brother since nam

Not to be overly nationalistic, but the US military is the only force in all the world that combines great numbers, training, and technology. You will find superior militaries in one or maybe two of the areas, but non have the balance the US has. Shotguns are poor combat weapons, they are heavy, limited purposed anachronisms. If we are playing Rainbow six and doing house clearings, shotguns are great, but in an open environment with some close quarter opportunities they should be considered more of a detriment... this is why they ignore basic functionalities of the platform in games. Don't get me started on the effects of moisture on shells v. cartridges.

Thank you for you're actual knowledge on the subject, makes more sense now why they don't put much into them.

No worries... these sort of discussions are enjoyable.

Indeed they are, this is my first time using a forum or anything like it.only ever sent 3-4 emails ever.I avoid social media like the plague

I do agree with you and respect you're experienced knowledge ,I was just talking about lethal range of one especially military grade.i was just complaining, rarely do I use the shotgun as you said basically worthless, but in this game I enjoy it.no joke on ammo care completely agree, we usually wax cap our shells.

While this game isn't a military shooter, it certainly uses a lot of militaryesgue weapon systems. I guarantee shot guns will be in the next battlefield and CoD... but hardly any real soldiers have used one beyond boot camp.
