Maybe it's because our person is from Russia as that is where our ghost revived us. There aren't a whole lot of black people is Russia I don't think

I could die in Russia, that doesn't make me Russian.
-
No but I would venture to say that most of the people in Russia are Russian
-
yeah but im not Russian im awoken
-
That's not the same as your guardian is Russian because he/she died there. Its safe to assume that a certain number of guardians died in or around the Russian cosmodrome because that was a focal point for space travel during the golden age. The collapse may have found them defending these assets and thus died there.

You driving in traffic from all appearances.

Edited by Horns: 7/28/2014 3:57:24 PMDriving in traffic in full guardian gear? Also, where you're revived is a desolate patch of road within a would-be vehicle graveyard.

Edited by Dr34dPir8: 7/28/2014 5:28:16 PMThe description of the initial guardian gear very clearly said it was hastily made by your guardian.
"Fabricated by your Ghost, this fieldweave handles life support and little else"
http://destiny.wikia.com/wiki/Born_Spark He looked in the car and found you, then revived you. It is safe to assume you got out of the car before you assumed control. Think man, THINK! Also, they mention at the beginning that you have been dead a very long time and treat you as if you should have no way of knowing what is going on. Why would a fallen guardian have no idea what was going on?

Edited by Horns: 7/28/2014 7:51:50 PMWhy would Bungie make everyone Russian? He didn't find you in a car, he passes by a skeleton with a hole in his head, says ouch, and then moves on. And I thought the class specific gear was the only thing the ghost had scrounged up, but I'll give you that one and concede that our character probably wasn't a guardian a time of death. We know that guardians didn't exist prior to the fall of the Traveler, but our races came as a result of the collapse and that's when I think our characters died. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TbIplY4icQ - Check at the 2:00 mark an you can read the description for the awoken race. It also indicates that we may come from elsewhere and happened to be on earth at time of death or we may be Earthborn. Like I posted in another thread, we may be near the Russian Cosmodrome because of the ease in transportation from Earth elsewhere. Space travel would have been facilitated by countries with an established space agency, i.e. Russia, China, and the US. We just happen to be near the Russian cosmodrome when we died, why? Who knows, maybe during the Golden Age it's where most traveled to Mars or Venus. Some may have died right as the Traveler was under attack and were trying to flee Earth at that moment and its why they perished right outside of the wall. There are numerous reason why we may have been in Russia, but none of them point to us definitively being Russian. This is especially true of the Exo as it's described as a War Machine created for a long lost struggle. Its creator and origins are unknown and only Ghosts comprehend their inner workings. "Ask yourself: what threatened your Golden Age ancestors so much that they constructed the Exos to defend themselves?" Exos came from the advent of the Darkness. Source Grimoire Card found at 2:05 of the video. In a game where we're supposed to make ourselves who we are I doubt bungie would choose to make you something you may not want to be for that character. If I make an Asian looking Titan, I'm not thinking he will have to be Russian as well. The only definitive in the backstory is that we fight on behalf of humanity. We may not even have to be from Earth specifically, we could have been born on a colony from Mars and happen to be on Earth when the Traveler fell or from the Reef in the Awokens case. This makes more sense because we are who we choose to be. Bungie wouldn't do well to define such a big part of your characters backstory. And I wanted to point out that we may not have known what happened during the fall of the Traveler, save for the Awoken, that's why we're unsure of what ghosts are and the speaker tells us in the second mission cutscene, but we're definitely aware of the struggle that was presented to us by the advent of the darkness. Exos were created as war machines and Awoken were a result of the Traveler bestowing humanity with the light and its ultimate collapse. So our characters definitely didn't die before the Golden Age and more than likely died right before the Traveler perished and created the ghosts.

Exactly.

Edited by Horns: 7/28/2014 8:38:57 PMAs to the original idea behind diversity within Destiny. This may be why. http://mic.com/articles/87359/national-geographic-concludes-what-americans-will-look-like-in-2050-and-it-s-beautiful I notice that while we may give our characters a general look of racial singularity i.e. the Asian look, it does make sense that humanity had begun to evolve passed its racial nonsense and started to diversify further. Bungie may have recognize this ideal, as our struggle in Destiny is of a unified people and not one particular race over another. Humans are Human, not Black, White, Russian, Asian, Hispanic, etc. We are all one and the only difference within the races is for something other than Human, i.e. Exo and Awoken.
