Where is my buzz cut or hell at least a fade, it's clear Bungie didn't have black people in mind when making hair styles.
Edit 1: people are defending obvious neglect and racism.
Edit 2: I hope Bungie see this and adds more black hair styles.
-
And here I was thinking that I would never meet "the boy who cried wolf".
-
Quit your belly aching! The only option us white folks get is 80s glam band glimmer!
-
I don't think they did it to be racist. Most games have stock styles and more become available down the road, I think it's more like they had their hands tied with releasing the game in a condition that didn't downright kill the game before it started. From a developers standpoint I can easily agree that fixing bugs, and finishing the product on time, is more important than incorporating hairstyles from different races. Those can always be added down the road as part of the DLC or a stand alone bonus to thank players or whatever.
-
I hope they add mor hair styles period
-
Racism? You know what's racist? Overtly black hairstyles that you are pointing out. That's racism.
-
They're already in the game. You weren't looking hard enough.

Edited by Display Name: 10/30/2014 10:07:23 PMPlease tell me you're not serious. What a f*ckin joke. First of all, there are obviously multiple so-called "black," albeit distastefully designed, hairstyles in Destiny character customization. Secondly, anyone of any "race" could make a subjective complaint that their interpretation of a culturally, diaphorically or aesthetically "appropriate" customization was lacking representation on an ethnic basis. This is an open opportunity for complaint in any limited system. Furthermore, to attempt the most stereotypical customizations possible for the given limit of options would also be grounds for a complaint that each attribute is "racist" on the basis of being overtly stereotypical. Lose/Lose. Last of all, you're bringing a very narrow minded notion of race inequality into a game that's entirely fictitious. Two of the three "races" do not exist. The timeline of the story is in the unspecifiably "distant future." Making any understanding you have of so-called "black hairstyles" irrelevant to the time, setting and even the genealogy of the human characters in the story. Many people who play this game are mixed ethnicity and by your logic they would have reason to be offended that there are too many "strictly black" or "strictly white" characteristics, while no mixed ethnicities were being represented. This is 2014. You're given a unique opportunity with the current state of human civilization to make a choice; either seek to find a basis for ethnic division or seek to ignore basis for ethnic division. We're only as divided as we choose to be, individually. You see racism where I see a game and a bunch of purely fictional characters where humanity is united against a common enemy... how much more starkly can ethnic unification and active equality be represented in an fictional universe? You're being ignorant and need take an introspective look at your own paradigm. Perhaps nothing will be good enough to satisfy your need for validation as a person of whatever color you may be, until you stop and realize there is no such thing as validation. You're human. I'm human. Who cares what Bungie allows us to look like in a game.
-
Btw, there is no "black" hairstyle, but rather a cultural style of doing one's hair; in this case, the culture could be described as African American, a culture that no longer exists within Destiny. Because of this, it would be unrealistic for one to be able to have one's Destiny character to have, as you referred, a "black" hairstyle, as this form of culture is not prevalent in the world we will be embarking upon come 9/9. If you're a troll... Good job.
-
That wasn't a hairstyle?
-
What do you call a Black Guardian?
A Guardian, you racist!

For shame, for shame.
-
You're the racist, believing that people of a certain race are limited to one kind of hairstyle.
-
Then why are there shaders for skin color. This is not hip-hop-tiny. Maybe they will add afros along with beards. Or just pick the bald style. Saying bungie didn't have black people in mind is a racist remark. Don't they have black people in their staff? Op is just another self entitled bigot. I'm of Latino decent and you don't see me crying about why my ghost doesn't speak to Me in spanish.
-
Racism 50's style: Lynching, denial of justice, murder, black/white only places, horrible living conditions, American Dream being out of reach. Racism 2014: THEY DO NOT HAVE BLACK STYLE, QUICK, CALL THE TWITTER MOBILE AND AL "fake outrage" SHARPTON!! And people wonder why no one cares or pay attention anymore when the word racism is flung around.
-
I hope there are way way more customization options
-
If memory serves, you're allowed to make black characters so I'd say racism is taking a little far. Racism would imply they purposefully excluded black hairstyles for some reason. Given that they overlooked beards and a lot of other things people want, I'd say they just didn't expect people to want as much out of customization as they do. They could definitely use more diversity in their customization.
-
Not going to lie, I wasn't really impressed with the amount of customization available, and I feel like they haven't added much since the Beta. I can only hope though,
-
Most of you don't even understand the full concept of racism. Smh
-
No jheri-curl! WTF! Canceling my preorder.
-
OH YEA.... WELL BUSH DOESNT CARE ABOUT BLACK PEOPLE
-
nothin more fancy than an Exo with an afro
-
Lmao...Racist. Lmao, that's a stretch. I posted something similar weeks ago. Their isn't any Black Hairstyles, but their isn't any white hairstyles either. It's all unique crazy anime hairstyles, but it's cool it's matches the art style of the game.
-
Obviously stupid troll is obviously stupid
-
While I don't agree that an omission of black hairstyles is racist, I do think all of you claiming that there are no such things as black hairstyles are oh so wrong. Honestly, have none of you seen Good Hair? Black people have different hair, so they wear it in ways that work with their hair. And get out of here with "African American" instead of black. It's a bullshit PC term that only Americans use.
-
Wouldn't wanna see guardians holding their hand cannons sideways. So no thanks.
-
Racism 2014. Calling everything racist and wondering why racism won't stop... smh
