Currently my say is biased because the Four Kings have been giving me hell lately. Not the kind of hell and nightmares they gave me when I fought them on my soul level 10 run cosplaying a balder knight , but still, they're being a bunch of asshats. I get hit by one of the bastards upper cuts with his sword and it hits multiple times, sending my 1025 helath bar down the shitter in one go.
But in reality, The Sanctuary Guardian is a stupid -blam!- and can go die in the worst hellfire imaginable. He is, without fail, the boss I have the most trouble with on every single playthrough. The four kings can be asshats, and occasionally pull out the worst combos on me to knock me out of the ring, but the Sanctuary Guardian tops them for being a total douche bag.

Edited by A Metroid: 2/23/2014 6:19:45 AMSame thing but in NG+ Four Kings that is.
-
Eh, the four kings aren't a problem for me. I pyromance with partial havels and the Crest Shield (It's been awhile, I think that is what it is called) and absorb all the magic.
-
Not really the magic I have a problem with. It's the fact that they like to one-two punch me. Overhead blade swing takes out my entire healthbar in one shot and my entire stamina bar. Or Let's say they do the AoE attack they have and I slip up and get caught in it. As I get up the wanker coasts over to me, picks me up and eats me before I can even recover. Let's not forget the fight that literally lasted 10 seconds in when he opened up with his magic attacks at range. First one smashed into the shield and took my stamina away, second big one knocked me out. I can't dodge them because of the distortion caused by the abyss. Even with the crest shield they're still pricks. But that overhead attack though, seriously caught me off guard. The closer you get to a king, the better, as their melee weakens up close. But he just swung overhead and I missed the roll and died at full health.

The trick is staying close and being smart about what you can block and what you can absorb.

Which I've become familiar with. I was on a steamroll today and then showed up on the king's door, basically got bitch slapped out of the way and completely demolished my happy train. That being said, when I killed them at level 10 cosplaying a Balder Knight, I was zoned out. I could even roll their troll magics. It was so hectic in the last stretch because I had all four spawned and was wittling away at them piece by piece. I couldn't afford to get hit once by anything because they could one shot me. And I was doing fine this run too and then the third king just up and said Lol No, get outta here bitch, and one shotted me through my shield. I swear, that uppercut is the same god damn attack Titanite demons use when they jump. Doesn't hit you once but multiple times in super quick succession, and sometimes the game forgets about things and their wombo combo goes off the charts and nukes you.
-
Yea, but I think the reason it is so hard is because you are cosplaying a balder knight.
-
Not on this run. I've beaten new game + 7 as my balder knight cosplay. He's done and over with. This run I'm sitting at 60, maxed out demon spear, good solid shield, and some lighter armour with some heavy pyromancies thrown in.
-
I was done after playthrough 1. Felt no need to go back and do it again (though I did go back in NG+ to do the dark wraith covenant).
-
I just wanted to see how far I could take it. I beat new game+7 at level 10 as a cosplay. Not many can sat that. This run is mainly pvp focused. I'm getting one last run in before 2 comes out. So far, my plague doctor build is working smoothly, and the various poor sods I've bumped into in various instances have suffered pretty bad. I ended up completely destroying an invader who came at me with a crystal demon great machette. I had him poisoned, toxin'd, and the last final dickslap was me using acid surge on him and destroying his weapon completely. Son of a bitch you shoulda seen the hatemail.
-
I mean, it's his own fault for PVPing with a crystal weapon. I'd acid surge his ass too.
-
But plague doctor is built for misery. Every possible poison in the game is at my fingertips, and I have the longest spear in the game to keep people at range as I wittle them down. That being said, ever been hit by a crystal demon machette? Your health bar says "Bye." A fair few people use crystal weaponry, as they deal some really hard hitting physical damage. And plus, you can buy more demon stuff from Shiva. But he was pissed though still. He had the thing upgraded completely.
-
I stopped PVPing in that game when I ran into cheaters/cheap tactics more often than the honorable fights (not changing levels/running away when dying and then using magic through walls). Then again, with PVP as laggy as Dark Souls, I'm surprised so many people play it. It could definitely be fun, but running into people with modded health was sooooo damn annoying.
-
Everything has it's ups and downs. I'm immensely glad that Souls 2 was tweaked with connection in mind. No more lagbackstabs or builds made for one shotting you with a backstab or ripasta. And there will always be modders around. I do enjoy that sometimes, modders in souls have fun over being cheap. And sometimes modders are bad enough that you can still win, making you feel like superman. In essence, Dark Souls is your introduction into becoming a mashochist. All dat pain. But all that fun to be had.
-
Eh, I usually get good enough at games that I don't die. Of course, that only happens in Dark Souls once you look at every enemy like it can kill you with ease (which they can). If you move with a plan, the game gets a little easier.
-
And even still, it likes to let you know who's boss. Which is why I love it so.
-
Yea, when I roll into the undead parish feeling like a bad ass and get riposted by a balder knight it sucks.
