I’m personally loving all the little tidbits of past information being given to us. However, I can’t shake the feeling that with the Darkness now in play, there isn’t really a lot of space for us to maneuver around as far as potentially beating the Darkness. I realize that the Darkness is basically the result of a DM in D&D god-modding a boss or character, but that makes it even harder to see an end goal of some kind.
Also, and this is not speculation if they are one and the same, but the Darkness and Savathun’s personality seem pretty much like copies of each other. Obviously the end-goals are different, but both are sneaky, both think power is the go to solution, both have somewhat unknown intentions... they just seem too similar for the two to work in the same story. I loved “that” moment in the first mission, and I love the idea of an enemy that you can never figure out, but Bungie needs to choose one, at least for now.

The story is gonna go in circles or sidequests like it always has, because it has to. If we fight the darkness and win, the story's over. If we fight the darkness and loose it's just D2 vanilla all over again. If bungie had set things up right they could have a jedi / sith style conflict they could extend for years, but I don't trust bungie's writers to be able to deliver on that.
