Don't worry, despite appearances Bungie know exactly what they are doing.
Implement SBMM just before the xmas newb intake to protect them.
Remove SBMM in February and get credit for listening to the player's complaints.

Protect the new players by creating a laggy experience for the everyone else? That's not the way Bungie should treat the people who have been here longer perfecting the crucible (As in getting better),
