To all the people who feel cheated out of content because they chose not to buy TTK,(which is your choice, I dont really care) just think about this though. Everything you are asking for would require completely dedicated servers for year one players and year two players to allow for seperate nightfalls, weekly events, Trials, Iron Banners, etc., otherwise year one players would be trying to compete in content that is above their level. So now you would have to have a team dedicated to maintaining year 1 features and one for year 2 features. Think if they had to do this every year for ten years (since that's the plan)! The amount of money they would lose is crazy and the servers would be more crap than they have been in the past already! I understand why you are upset, but the reality is that is just isn't feasible for the plan they have in mind for this game. As for everyone else that is so appalled by this but HAVE bought TTK, don't be suprised next time this happens because this is how it's gonna work for the next 10 years. There won't be a "oh I'll skip this DLC and wait for Destiny 2." This is Destiny 2....and 3...and 4 and so on. Unless they all of a sudden decide to change their approach, either leave now or enjoy the ride cause it's gonna be a long one.
• Or, they could have not broken with previous behaviour and allowed the level cap to be universal. In that case, most of the issues would have been resolved. Or some happy medium between the two. Splitting difficulty settings on daily/weekly like they already had? There are many things that could have been easily done to respect the players whose sales dollars launched the game. Bungie went with the low road and resorted to extortionist methods. I've said before, I plan on buying TTK so its not money or entitlement talking here, its the feeling of being cast off like a street urchin, and Bungie deserves to be shamed for it.

Splitting difficulty setting was my first thought but that still wouldn't work because TTK players would have new strikes for nightfall and such as well as different drops. As far a lvl cap, any WoW player (just a one example) can tell you, you've got to buy the expansion to increase your lvl cap. And it's not like there was no warning about it, they made it very clear that unless you buy the expasion, you aren't getting a higher lvl cap. Besides, what's the point? Your light lvl still wouldn't increase so it's not like it would make you stronger. Still can't get the new gear or do new strikes. The is absolutely no point in increasing the lvl cap for Year one players. Increasing the lvl cap for everyone would do absolutely nothing. It is a superficial upgrade unless you can get the gear to make it worth it...which year one players can not do.

  • Lockout for a given week has been active since dark below so that's not a factor. Setting gear drop parameters was also a thing, so there's really no reason Bungie couldn't have taken a more friendly stance on this. They made a conscious, active decision to make year one players as unwelcome as possible, especially given how inclusive the previous dlc releases were. That mentality is what I object to; not for my own sake, but for all of those who got not just left behind, but pushed backwards.
