I bought the DGE of Destiny last year, so yes. If you're thinking that "oh they used the Omnigul strike as the Nightfall and Heroic" is a valid argument, let me stop you there. The soft level requirement for it was 30, so when a vanilla strike was chosen anyone could play. On top of that, anyone could hit 32 with TDB, and nearly everyone was already 30. Vendor gear was purchasable by anyone, allowing them to hit 31 with all vendor gear even then.

What I mean is you and I paid for the season pass $35 if I remember right and everyone that didn't was stuck at 30 until IB finally dropped 32 gear and those people could not play anything TDB related I guess right?

Yeah, and not being able to play ttk isn't the issue, that's totally fine and makes sense. The issue arises when the level cap is going to prevent me from playing Vanilla or TDB/HoW strikes and Daily missions.

That's what I was getting to. The expansion for 2.0.0/TTK restructured the base of the game itself. In other words to expand on what's old and worth keeping alive needs to be revamped into the new content. So allowing the ones who are not willing to get the expansion the ability to lvl up to 40 and be the same without spending a dime doesn't sit well either does it?

Except anyone could hit the level cap in the old DLCs without paying either. The level cap for the Nightfall was always at a point where you could play it using old gear, and not need to be at the max level. Even the Heroic capped out at 30. Dailys too, on non DLC days (in which case it was 32). Now? You must have ttk in order to play Vanilla content. I'm not sure how you think that that's a good idea.

I know what you mean and thanks for having an intelligent conversation and not an argument with me. There is 2 sides to it in the end I guess. (1) In getting this game off the ground there needed to be some things that were given away so to speak to entice gamers to want to see it expand ie: desire to purchase the DLC's to be part of its evolving story/end game. (2) TTK destiny evolving into a game that is a huge step in the right direction for how it plays and in doing so has parameters that don't allow what's been done in the past for players without DLC but this is an expansion and the way its set up with new subclasses and leveling systems there would have to be even more separation playlists. At some point they have to move forward and in doing so keep the gamers hungry for more.
