Not really... it's just another grind no skill involved.

Noooo... level 40 is a grind with no skill. Light is going to be the separation. Light is based on gear you acquire. All of your gear. He who is the best has all the best stuff. Therefore, highest light. I think it's better than the old ways, determining players on your fireteam based on whether or not that have a certain rocket launcher haha

Honestly who knows haha could say the same thing to OP about laurea prima... I know I've carried my share of baddies through skolas. Hopefully it offers some separation.
