Edit: This ended up much longer than originally intended... So tl;dr - too many changes at once has unintended consequences; IB and BH are fine just like they are; and optional matchmaking would solve the exclusionary problem -------- Yah, the thing that I keep seeing when they try to "rebalance" weapons is that they are changing too much at once. If they want to change how the different classes stack up, I think changing one or maybe two things, and then wait to see how that plays out, might work better. When you change so much at once, its hard to tell everything that will be affected, and then you end up out of balance in another way. As for icebreaker, I agree completely with your analysis. No reason to do anything to that weapon. The only thing that increasing the regen speed does is make it take longer to do the same activity that you've done so many times before. That's why people try to find the fastest and most efficient way to complete activities - because we've done it all already and while it's still fun to play, it's not like it's any different that we need different strategies each time we play - why wouldn't we want to get through it fast? As for black hammer - no nerf needed there either, that gun is perfect just the way it is. To get the "free ammo" you have to land the entire three shot clip in a short period of time. That takes practice and skill, so why not be rewarded. It's achievable, sometimes multiple times in a row. But is it easy? No, most of the time you're dodging or being hit by enemy fire and if you miss the critical just once, you gotta reload. Not to mention enemies that die after 4 or 5 headshots, forcing a reload and ammo consumption anyway. Couple that with the small reserve size and its far from infinite ammo... But whatever, only time will tell I guess. We will adapt, we will persevere, and we will find new ways of completing the same things over and over in the quickest way possible. Until that gets nerfed ;) Oh yeah, one more thing - I had the same reaction to the Gally reasoning- none of that would matter if the game had _optional matchmaking_. Word.
