While I am worried it will be nerfed into oblivion, I do think it needs a nerf. Whether it's OP or not isn't the point, the point is about 70% of people in the crucible use it exclusively. When a gun is that popular there's obviously something about it that makes it worth using over every other gun and Bungie has said they don't want any one weapon to be the obvious choice, which to be honest atm, Thorn is.
My suggestion would be to revert it to it's pre buff stats but keep the extra DoT damage for PVE and maybe the extra reload speed. Currently its base stability is pretty high and that's what makes it so good, it's easy to use. A stability nerf would make getting the second shot harder and that would pretty much balance it out.

Just saying a lot of people are saying Thorn is the best for PvP but none that many people went up against a Red Death user of equal skill. Red Death > Thorn in the hands of someone that is as good as you. Red Death's stability doesn't go to poop when under fire unlike Thorn. Thorn > Red Death if the Red Death user sucks more than you but if you fought yourself.. Red Death would win unless you can't use pulse rifles.. In which case you should learn to use pulse rifles :) They have fun perks (Bad Juju) and other abilities that are useful (Red Death) that makes them viable but not that many people know the true pain they can inflict in a crucible match. Trust me when I say Red Death is very underestimated when compared to Thorn. We need to fear it just like how Vanguard has!
