Why shouldn't thorn be nerfed in pvp (Resonable discussion)
Thorn is much better than every single weapon in pvp and if you believe in a balanced pvp you should want a nerf. If u don't tell me why. Please have well though out answers and no shit like 'git gud'. Be sensible

Thorn Shouldnt be needed because people take forever to get it..... you have to first get lucky.... then you have to get 500 void kills in crucible.... that's hard if you really suck ......then you kill Xyor in the level 26 strike of summoning pits with Epic on and it takes a awhile to get home to spawn......it's time consuming and really hard if you have no one to help you

There is no other weapon to compete with it other than a sniper from far or close up encounter with a shotgun in both cases the thorn is still a threat the poison alone cause u to take cover real quick because with three shots ur dead and no other weapon except a last word may possibly beat it in a face to face scenrio

It shouldn't be nerfed because the main reason it's so strong is because all the guns that used to compete with it have gotten nerfed. If they buff ARs and maybe give scouts a little pvp love suddenly guns would be able to stand up to thorn and people would be able to actually pick guns to tailor to a play style instead of just picking thorn which is pretty much too tier for any play style at the moment Also you could nerf it down to their nerfed levels but if you only ever nerf things to balance you end up getting reverse power creep and eventually all just get weaker and weaker to the point where you don't feel good about using anything

10 RepliesI agree that thorn is an annoying weapon, but I don't believe it is OP. Look, most times if me and a thorn user see eachother at mid-long range, my hawkmoon beats them 3 out of 4 times. I imagine some pulses do the same. Closer ranges and things get a bit more dicier, as they always are. The thing is, I think most people complain about thorn because its one of the few weapons you know you are getting hit by, other than vex and maybe hawkmoon. Yeah, I get killed by thorn a lot, I also get killed by snipers, shotties, pulse rifles and the odd AR. Out of all those weapons though, I only really know when I'm getting hit by thorn because of the dot, the rest could be anything. Thorn is annoying, but its not OP. If you get hit by it, run! Don't give them an easy kill. Recover and get to range to make em pay!

I dont necessarily think it should be nerfed... Do I think its annoying to die from it? Why yes of course. Rather I think they should buff Auto Rifles in some way to add more competition against Thorn. In ToO and IB I've only seen one person rock an AR and tht was the Suros xD

I don't believe any gun should be nerfed. Every time Bungie "Balances something" by nerfing it they beat it into the fûcking ground and it is completely useless, see ARs and Fusion Rifles... Instead I think they need to buff some guns to make them more competitive with Hand Cannons. Auto Rifles and Pulse Rifles should have similar damage out-put, with the primary difference being stability. Scouts seem fine, but should probably have lens flare since they have similar range to snipers. Hand Cannons should do great damage medium range, but should have a great deal of range deterioration, you definitely shouldn't have scout range on a HC.

Being an owner of the thron bounty, I hate it. The void part made me hate crucible. So I gave up and took a break from it for iron banner this week. But seeing how much work it takes, the gun should be a good reward. If it gets nerfed to the point where orange foam darts fly out, then the bounty might as well not exist.

It just needs its attack speed adjusted by about 10%-20% to be balanced

Yeah thorn is a pain in the ass but The Last Word kills me alot more. I don't think we need a nerf but if I kill a thorn user the DoT should stop. 9 times out of 10 its the poison that kills not the bullet

I'm not saying thorn should or shouldn't be nerfed. The way I feel is if they do nerf it than a new weapon will just take its place in the community of cry babies who repeatedly call for nerfs. Bungie brought this upon themselves by actually caring what the community says. Bungie should never have reacted to the community crying about nerfs, or cheeses. Play the game the way it was made. If you think thorn is op than please use thorn yourself to even the playing field. I guarantee you will still be killed repeatedly by other people. I do not feel like all guns will ever be equal to other guns in the game. But I do not feel that the actual weapon is at fault. Some people are better with certain weapons than other people. I know this will be hard for some people to hear but some people are better in pvp than some others. The weapons have nothing to do with the fact you are being owned in pvp. My advice. Stop crying on forums and actually get out there and work on getting better. Learn how to counter the thorn or whatever weapon is killing you often. Learn how to work with cover. Learn how to work as a team. Learn how to shoot consistently to the head quickly. Please do the destiny community a favor and stop spamming these forums calling for nerfs.

I don't understand why everyone is crying for thorn to be nerfed. Thorn is not the problem and I don't think it should be nerfed. What they need to do is buff some other weapons, such as auto rifles. Besides, TLW is far better than the thorn in my opinion. I have thorn and never use it, use to, but not anymore! It doesn't even bother me.

Then when Bungie buffed Thorn everyone started a whole new complaint on how op Thorn is. I do agree that they buffed Thorn a little too much but Bungie still did what the community wanted. If Bungie does nerf Thorn and then the community starts a whole new complaint again, then I will begin to question whether the Destiny community is worse than Call of Duty's.

1 ReplyTo be honest I have a hand cannon that two hits it's called the ill will and I think it's better than thorn plus thorn isn't that great and the DoT is just the exotic perk it gets which can be countered by doing what I do which is simply retreating if I get popped once or twice

8 RepliesWhat do you expect when you put a weapon with poison effect into Crucible plus making it a hand cannon. Its suppose to be strong. No Nerf if you're annoyed by it just get on and you'll change your mind. The exotic bounty was hard enough so you should be rewarded with something strong. Pocket Infinity is an example of what Thorn could be become. Terrible. Give pocket infinity 5 rounds in a mag and it might comeback
