Thorn is actually not that great imo.
Pros:
It excels at mid-medium long range combat.
Due to the extreme amount of aim assist in game it's an easy to use weapon.
Ammo isn't an issue, can burn ammo for final round in trials.
Dot effect to keep shields down to allow aggressive gameplay or follow up grenades.
Has good stats.
Probably some other stuff, I don't know.
Cons:
Tlw has a faster ttk and will beat thorn at close-medium range encounters. Long range is more dependant on user skill.
Shotguns will kill in cqc.
Snipers will kill in long range.
Somewhat irrelevant, but is apparently difficult to obtain? (Arguably a pro, idc)
Fusion rifles can beat it at mid range.
Tlw is better for aggressive play because it will kill faster instead of relying on dot, it just kills.
These are my thoughts on thorn. I think thorn is irrelevant. I use last word and thorn users will generally lose to me in a 1v1 encounter. If you let a thorn user play his medium range game, then it'll be difficult. Put some distance between you and them or get in close and make them panic. They'll either switch to secondaries or die.
So, I don't think thorn really needs a nerf. Maybe dot can be shorter but stronger, but destiny is a slightly slow paced game so it fits.
