They do it to strech out the time you spend on the dlc before you go back to whatever game you like.

Having the opposite outcome. It's pushing me to other games and making me not want to play the game I normally play

Many people are saying this along side you and I, Hektik. This seems to be a common result of the base design flaws Bungie made with the DLC.

I'm not one to say fire people but there are some team leads/managers/decision makers that need to be removed. They're really hurting this game.
