80 percent of the player base doesn't do end game content That means 80 percent of destiny players aren't doing poe or trials That further means that 80 percent of the player base is blocked from advancing in the game Etheric light is only easy for the 20 percent who play end game content For the other 80 percent of millions of players, it's not easy at all

  • Maybe I don't understand, but if 80% of all players aren't playing end game content, then why do they need etheric light in the first place? You don't need Max level unless you want to play end game content.

  • Not necessarily, perhaps it's just fun to be leveled up. Maybe they want a 365 shadow price. Previously, a player could reach just under max level by doing patrol and stories, getting ascendent materials You don't need to be max level to do strikes, or story or even nightfall (which nf may fall under end game content, not sure about that) but it's fun to feel a sense of progression in the game even if you don't do raids And then there is iron banner, where levels matter. And while IB is selling etheric light this time, it's still only once a month event So, fun is my answer. It's fun to level up. It's fun to get your money's worth. It's fun to see those big numbers on your favorite old gun! Just because some people don't have the skill for end game content shouldn't mean they can't have just as much fun being leveled up!

  • I think a lot of the problem seems to be the FPS crowd vs the MMORPG crowd. The MMO crowd gets it. Look at any decent MMO. I'll use wow as an example. Can everyone, casual or not, attain max level? yes. Everyone can hit 90 or whatever the current cap is. Everyone can unlock all of their abilities and play story quests to their heart's content. Now look at their endgame content. Can everyone do them? No. Why? Gear. If you're gear score isn't high enough, sorry, you won't be able to help in a raid. Destiny has its own gear score. It's called light level. Technically anyone who hits 20 is max level. The only reason ( I think) light level was implemented the way it was, was to make it a tad easier to know if other players can help with a raid or other content. Now I'll say that Destiny overall doesn't have enough content, so with all the Dlc only really adding end game material, I understand the frustration, but the answer isn't to hand gear out to people.

  • This is the first ever fps or mmo I've ever played, so it's all new to me. I'm in the 20 percent that does end game content, but I wish everyone had all the gear and weapons. If it was a sanctioned competitive game, I'd say sure, you need skill to reach the top. I raced pro motocross most my life, I understand rising through the ranks based on skill But this is a casual game and should have all activities at various difficulty levels, so people get the experience of the whole game, regardless of skill level But these are shoulda, coulda and woulda lol I also own and run my own business (a software company) and if I told 80 percent of my customers that they couldn't use top tier tools, well, I'd be out of business quick lol I'm not sure what demographic bungie is shooting for, but alienating 80 percent of your player base can't be good!

  • I agree to an extent. Destiny is a super small game that relies on a ton of recycled content. But I still think most people really could get through end game content. If 80% of people haven't done it and actually want to, then I say to them get in Lfg and tag themselves as 80 percenters. Run vaults, crotas, poes. Try and fail. Try again. None of us got through everything the first time. The biggest problem beside lack of content is the refusal to add optional matchmaking for end game activities. But luckily there is LFG so you can take Bungie and their ignorant ideals out of the equation. Either way, if anyone is unsatisfied, don't play!

  • I certainly agree with the need for optional matchmaking! I joined a clan early on, and have made some good friends through destiny. I usually run with them, but it's good to have options. I also think there should be an 80 percenter group that can get help to do end game content. I think destiny sherpa does something along those lines I just don't understand bungies philosophy I suppose. Being new to these types of games, I'm usually quiet, since I have no experience in these matters lol I guess I'll just have to make my own gaming company to do it my way ;-)
