I skipped The Dark Below because I knew HoW would offer better content per dollar and that their first DLC would swiss cheese base game mats with some ridiculous farm 10 bajillion of these one or two mats to hit max idea basically I knew it was going to be garbage but I knew the successor would be vastly improved the only real complaint I have this time is that there is still no matchmaking and that they've added a 3rd hard to get mat to hit max level and building upon my matchmaking complaint there is now extreme elitism on LFG sites now so I can't even enjoy all of one of the only DLC packs I've ever purchased its coming to a boiling point where I think I and many gamers are seeing DLC as nothing more than cash grabs and if this is the future of gaming I don't want to be a part of it, parting out games to squeeze more money out of people is killing what used to be the core market eventually it will become so full of greed and elitism that common people won't be able to afford it and only the rich will be able to play. At its core Pay to play isn't wrong but this mobile-esque system they are trying to do on consoles won't work for much longer if you have to pay multiple times to just even feel like you got your money out of the game.
Long story short, if bungie would just make a few more changes through some sort of Customer QA beta testing program get feedback from the players participating offer them some cool emblem and shader for their time and feedback they could turn the tide heavily in their favor, sure sales wise destiny is doing fairly well but eventually people are going to get tired of the hassle and elitism of LFG and other parts of the game and more than likely will return their favorite franchises (Halo/CoD/Elder Scrolls/ Potentially Fallout 4 if Bethesda announce its hopefully this E3 I really hope doom 4 wasn't the "big" reveal/[everything else])

The strange thing is pay to win games like warframe are actually much cheaper to play than destiny.

In the long run you will pay more for pay to win though, just look at the crazy money people dump on "Freemium" Mobile games
