We're still trying to figure that out, but the obvious assumption is magic. It's in a geosynchronous orbit with Earth, but I think that it's more like an active geosynchronous orbit. It's is staying in its exact location without rising or falling, moving on its own rather than with Earth's gravity, thus leaving Earth unaffected.
