    Yes you need it as it will be an online persistent game. Similar to final fantasy XIV. However, i dont believe it will be a subscription based game. We will find out from "bungie day", tomorrow.

    I would say yes because of the multiplayer component and joining up with fireteams. Bungie has said in the past you can play this game alone.
