Community Update 10.9.2014

Greetings community! It has been a long time coming for an update, and this one is sure to raise some eye brows and probably many questions. Both of which are great in our eyes. Our community has grown substantially in the past month and with that we owe it to you to deliver cool stuff and to deliver it in the only way we know how. All at once. So on the agenda today is a summary of what is happening within the community, and what is going to happen in the coming weeks. I would like to take a moment to welcome our new members, as well as tip my hat to our elder members. I encourage everyone to make use of our forums and meet the new people who arrive daily. We have a big beautiful game to talk about, and pretty soon posting in our forums may be very useful to you, and your fellow member's perpetual envy. But let's back track a moment so I can set the stage for a barrage of information, and give you some insight on what our Staff has been up to. Much of the past month has been checking for potential bugs around the site, and allowing the new influx of members to bend our modifications and put them to use. We have been looking for what we have that is not needed, and what is needed that we do not have. We have it pretty much figured out, and have already begun implementing our ingenious solutions. You need more news. You need to post more of your thoughts. You need more bling. Simple, direct language. So to bring everyone up on the same level, I am going to let you in on some of the cool stuff we have lined up for everyone in the coming weeks and months. The Orators Our collection and presentation of Destiny news is being put into a higher priority. We are bringing on new Journalists to venture out into the wilderness, gather the things you need, and reporting back here with enlightening articles that will educate and inform Guardians on the latest tid bits of Destiny deliciousness. So as you see these articles come out, give the authors the feedback they need so that they can be the orators, the voices of our community. It's a tough job, and requires more work than what is seen on the surface. So keep them on their toes. We plan on producing detailed guides, latest glitches, and easter eggs. As well as just reflecting and explaining aspects of Destiny that we think need to be discussed. With this, we always offer the opportunity for our members to help. You will of course get the credit, we are not savages. The Exchanges No doubt our chatbox is the most used feature on our website. It is the most effective tool for our members to communicate. So effective in fact, that our actual forums decline in activity from time to time. This is both good and bad depending on which angle you are looking at it. With a game that is so new, so large, and that has captured our hearts from day one, our forums are a great place to really get down to the good stuff. You can open discussions for all kinds of things, and even add your own guides to our database to help others find their way. We have always been known for being one of the most friendly and community oriented websites for well over 5 years. Let's continue that tradition and hit the forums hard the next few weeks. The Collections Our Fireteam Finder was the first step in bringing The Tower from the game, into our community. We want a central place where members can fancy themselves in an experience that shares the same concepts and ideas that make Destiny great. So in due time, stage two will be ready for launch. Our idea is to bring the fun of earning currency and loading up your character with the latest gear, into our own community. Being active at our site, will soon earn you the right to collect that which you strive for in the game. Your profile will become your Guardian. As you continue to be active in our community, you will earn yourself currency. With that currency you are going to be able to equip your profile from a library of weapons and armors that will be yours to display. We will build entire events and contests around this notion, and we guarantee that the stuff you want the most, will be the hardest to obtain. It's not about what you have, it's what you had to do to earn it. We love that idea, and we are going to roll with it. The Clans This system was something that I have had a very close eye on, and while I want to comment on a lot, I am only going to focus on a couple things to benefit you. I see that a lot of members want to create their own clan, which is what it's there for. But if you are just looking for people to play with, why not join one already created? Even if your clan size is 5 people, you know that there are 5 people you can turn to for help. Aside from the Fireteam Finder, a clan is a great way of securing fireteams for help with specific missions and tasks. The Hyrulean Guardians There are tons of small clans that are just looking for people to play with. We understand your ultimate goal is to dominate the world, but until then you can help each other dominate the game. The summary The community is doing absolutely fantastic. We have a steady flow of new members to our site, as well as utilizing the Bungie.net group for people who have one foot in and one foot out. I have big plans for this place, and with the feedback from the community including you, we can shape and mold it into the perfect place to come for all things Destiny. Talk to you in the forums.
