Looking to get a new headset for the PS3. Trying to find out what's the best out there right now...

Just got the playstation silvers after the mic on my afterglows died. With the companion app installed and on the destiny setting, they sound amazing. I'm hearing things I didn't even know were in the game. The surround is nice and adds to the whole experience. They are on the ear not over the ear phones and can get a bit uncomfortable during extended play. Wouldn't recommend these for someone with a wide head. They would probably be very uncomfortable. 35$ on Amazon. For me, they are worth the money. Would like to get the wireless gold's, but couldn't justify the extra 50$ for those to my wife just yet.

For all of he headsets everyone is listing below. You get Chat as well as in game audio correct? Also if you do, are you always having to change the output settings to get the sound from the headset back to the tv in order to watch Hulu, Netflix etc. I just don't want to have to change that all the time, as if I forget and the misses tries to stream and there is no sound she will ge frustrated cause she never tinkers with the PS3 settings. My current headset is only chat and I realized I get killed when playing at night is because I have no in game audio and I can't hear enemies coming or shooting me till I am already losing life. All this time I was always like "what the hell?" Thanks.

Honestly I am in love with my TB stealth 400s...they are the cheapest headset on the market for wireless and having 15hr of playtime! Usually around $80-100

I use the Turtle beach PX22 as well. I managed to pick up a set for £65, so it was a really good price. I had thought about getting a wireless set, so I didn't have cables trailing, but I read about problems with interference with them, and you would also need to keep them charged. I've been in games with guys, and you just hear 'I need to go charge my headset' and they're gone. The PX22s have great sound, and volume controls, and I would recommend them.

I have the px22s as well, bought from Walmart online for 60$, in store was 20$ more. Best thing about this is the control box, if your headset breaks you can use whatever headset you want as long as it has a mic.

I think this is an appropriate place for this...I just found the Sony gold headset for $75 on overstock. http://www.overstock.com/Books-Movies-Music-Games/PS4-Playstation-4-Gold-Wireless-Stereo-Headset/8726377/product.html

I'm a big fan of the turtle beach stuff

I have a px22 corded from turtle beach. With a little work it supposedly works with the ps4 also. Anyway, you have great volume control to adjust the game volume or the chat volume separately. It also has a smart phone aux jack to connect the phone and allows you to switch to the phone call.

I have the turtle beach p11's too. Easy to use, good sound, and not too expensive.

Check out the Sony gold headset they are wireless 7.1 surround sound. They have a aux cable so you can use them as regular headphones. Build in mic so you can't even see the mic. Customized sound via ps app. Only 100$

Yeah I have the turtle beach p11's. Not wireless but not a big issue with me. Don have to worry about dead battery or anything. Works well and is like $40 I think.

I have a cheap over one ear turtle beach "communicator" that will not stay on my ear and I have to adjust every 10 minutes or when I turn my head too fast. But hey, it was only 5 bucks secondhand.

Edited by Zblur: 2/12/2015 4:43:15 PMI have the older version of the PS3 headset and I like that one accept the blue tooth does not stay connected. I attribute that to the number people around me in this condo complex that the signal gets pushed around. The one I have has an adjuster that will make it so you can hear the game noise more OR the people talking more. (I need this as some of you guys I barely hear) They were $100. Cheap as crap construction but they are comfortable.

Most people point to the Astro A50 as the best, but you will pay for them. You can find refurbs for $200, new is $300. I don't have experience with them, other than trying them on in best buy. You can get the previous model A40 for around 200 new. A lot of people like the sony golds, too. That is what I will probably get when my turtlebeach P11s die. I don't particularly care for the turtlebeach P11, they feel a bit uncomfortable on my head after an hour or so, and the build quality feels a bit cheap.

Bought the Turtle beach P11 from target. In store they are $60 but on the website they are $40. Bought them online and then went to the store for pick up. I'm sure there are better sound quality out there but this is my first headset and I think the sound is pretty good. It is wired but has a pretty long wire. Has the controls to adjust chat and game volume as well as mute for your mic. Went this route since my kids will likely one day break them and I won't feel too bad about the $40.
