There were many complaints during the Beta phase of Destiny about Warlocks being overpowered.
Lately, those complaints have stopped. Since the full release of the game Warlocks are no longer seen as overpowered, however the potential of the Voidwalker and Sunsinger subclasses is not to be underestimated.
The Warlock sub-classes show great diversity, suiting many different styles of play.
Recently, Warlocks have enjoyed near-celebrity status. Having become highly sought after by raiding groups for their abilities to push bosses into the abyss.
Even still, the power of the Warlock has not yet been fully realized or understood.
Warlocks are an enigma; being neither this nor that. It is very difficult to put Warlock players into a box because they are so varied.
Warlock players are indecisive. They wanted both the style and flare of the Hunter and the strength and nobility of the Titan. What they got was a compromise. And compromise is a quality that all Warlock players share.
Warlocks are the biggest geeks. They enjoy fantasy and fiction. And of course - like all nerds - they love space magic.
Warlocks have many interests, including culture, food, history and the sciences.
Warlocks are open minded. Most tend to appreciate and admire the differences in people, be they strengths or weaknesses. Warlocks are the most diplomatic people. They try to keep everyone happy.
Warlocks can be moody. Sometimes even depressed. Warlocks perhaps worry too much about the way that people treat each other and this can weigh them down.
Warlock players are bright and educated and they try to maintain a balanced outlook. They know that they don't know everything, even though they often act like they do.
Some Warlocks like to be judge, jury and executioner. Others don't seem to be concerned about anything.
Warlock players are dreamers and idealists. And they never really stick with anything for too long.
Warlock players like to put themselves in other people's shoes, you'll notice many have a second or third character for this reason.
Warlock players are deep thinkers. They like to experiment and consider alternatives and probability.
Warlocks like to take charge. Although they can have trouble with rebellious Hunters. The Titans will allow the Warlock to lead, as long as he is a good and capable leader. If not, then the Titan will contest him and the Warlock will almost certainly find himself displaced.
Warlocks are chatty and they love to debate. If a Warlock is really excited about something it can be difficult to get them to shut up about it.
Warlocks can at times be selfless. They will postpone their own agendas for other guardians. They will try to adapt their playstyle, perks and loadout in an attempt to cover any shortfalls in the team.
Warlocks are prone to sudden bursts of frenzied activity, followed by a long spell of laziness.
Warlocks can be careless in battle, their Nova Bomb, Radiant Skin and Fireborn allow them to make mistakes with relative safely.
Warlocks are very skeptical, they have seen the best and the worst sides of humanity so they always look for facts and proof in everything.
Warlocks enjoy research and lore. They are always coming up with theories about Bungie and Destiny.
Warlocks are managers and motivators.
Warlocks are social and adaptable.
Most Warlocks stay behind the scenes while their louder friends take the spotlight.
Deej is probably the most famous Warlock player.

My main is a warlock and you were pretty spot on. You should do horoscopes for magazines.

I used to hate warlock then I took a sparrow to the knee
-
I have a warlock. And I hate it

I stopped reading after "highly sought after" stop reliving your glory days in VoG High School. Everyone wants blade dancers for CE and bubble will never go out of style.

Most warlocks I've seen were sqeakers. Just sayin...

This feels really introspective to an introvert me. Regardless of your reasons for posting this, I applaud your efforts to identify for others the personalities and mindsets of those that play as the Magnificent Space Wizards :) I can relate to most of the stuff listed here, except for the compromise part (sort of; I just really felt drawn to the Warlock) and I don't have another character besides my very first (although that has recently been offset by my brother's foray into Destiny, as he has chosen to play as a Hunter). Magnificent work DarkChildOfLight :)

Wow I'm a hunter but one of my closest friend is a warlock and this is him in writing he is always willing to only use his super of the team is about to go down and me and him argue so much in the raid as I am a rebellious hunter myself and don't like to be pushed around but love to contribute to the team even if i'm the quiet one while they are cheesing the Templar. He is a strong leader and his leadership is not questioned nor contended by my close and very reliable (if not a bit depressing) titan friends.
-
well done. this sounds a lot like me too and i mainly use a warlock.
-
Exactly. Sounds like my damn Zodiac sign. LMAO.

We're the best.

First off 10/10, this was great but i gotta say something. As a warlock and a Mage character in most games, a warlocks threads aren't right in this game. So I get the whole style thing with warlocks, I like the robes, but it's missing something. Every Mage, wizard, witch, warlock character in a game I've played, had a hood attached to the robe. Why don't warlocks have a hood?....just like we taught hunters to blink, Did we give them our hoods? Warlocks/mages have always had hoods on there robes. Hell both the warlock and hunter have subclasses that engulf us In flame. We can both blink. Why can't we both have hoods....and why in the heck do hunters have invisibility? Lol seems like some of the mAge characters traits in this game are missing.

I gazed into the void, and it gazed back into me... And recoiled in fear...

Edited by Henreah: 11/16/2014 12:57:42 PMOMG DuDe i love ur post lol i was just reading and like tru dat may i ask where did u get this stuff from?
-
I used to get hated by him alot
check my profile
-
I noticed that a lot more people tend to like sunsinger in PvP rather than voidwalker. I tried my hardest to come around to sunsinger in PvP but it just doesn't fit my playstyle apparently. I like voidwalker 20x better in PvP.
-
yup this is sooooo me I become irritated with Titans and Hunters..even when I'm watching others play it's a waste of time..I forget that they don't have a melee like I do smh BOGUS
-
Holy crap this is me in a nutshell, just look at my profile! You sir, are a genius *applauds*
-
Dude shut the hell up. The only reason I went Warlock is because it wrecks in pvp. A purple rocket launcher as your super and a melee that connects from a 10 meter distance ? save some for me. Couldn't care less about anything else and definitely don't see myself in all that gibberish. And btw I thought you were going to say '..but then I took an arrow to the knee'. Would have made more sense.
-
Why would we put warlocks in a box? They're already in a closet. He he
-
Wow. You hated hunters, titans, and warlocks. You are quite the hater #lolsarcasm
-
Only rolled a warlock because I played one in wow.
-
Warlock was my first toon. But then i made a titan and warlock was soon forgotten. Now i HAVE to play warlock as its the final subclasses i need
-
Once the Syndicate hired me, a lowly space wizard to destroy Space Station 13, but my spess magic was stopped by a clown and his HONK mech. Thankfully I was cloned and proceeded to steal the craptains ID and and nuclear authentication disk and blow up the station. This is why I play warlock.
-
But we still punch bestest, right?
-
"They wanted both the style and flare of the Hunter " lolz you mean that silly cape hunters put on pretending to be some kind of super hero? Na the hunters tried to out play the Warlocks style just to fail to look like a bunch of kids running around with fancy towels tied around their neck xD
