I've always considered myself a staunch humanist and I look forward to the day we as a species transcend divisive limitations like racism, sexism, nationalism, classism, etc. I was ecstatic at the thought of something like the traveler completely enlightening us, but without Destiny as a reference point I wonder how humanity would react to something like the traveler. So my question to you all is how would you react to the traveler, if a game like Destiny didn't exist, and it just appears over earth out of nowhere?

Depends on the travelers function. If it made humanity better as a whole, I would start enjoying my time with others and working to continue the growth of humanity. If it was just there, and no one knew anything about it, it might creep me out but I would go on with everyday life and avoid the mob of people trying to find its secrets and forming cults and propaganda in an attempt to brainwash the masses. Stay far, far away from the news.

I'd tell it to turn me into a space wizard ;)

E.T. Phone Home.

I would continue to make beer and help my customers drink it. Seems like it would be important work....
-
First, I would ask someone if I was hallucinating, while I trembled with fear. If it was confirmed I wasn't, I would smoke a cigarette and wait to see what happened.
-
If that happened then I would bow before Bungie because their plans for world domination worked.

Push the big red button. NUKE!!!!
-
I'd be stoked! Change is good and the acknowledgement of an existence outside our planet would be life changing for everybody even if it’s difficult at first!
-
Depends on what it does to Earth... Obviously it would be a huge controversy and every army in the world would probably be shooting at it 24/7 xD

Says in red knock voice "God damn immigrants, trying to take our jobs"
-
I think it is hard to think of your actual reaction. However, I am kind of excited about what it might be able to do and what it's purpose is. But I would probably get kind of scared because of the same reason, what can it do? And what will it do?
-
Plant a flag at the top of it and scream "I claim this sphere for bungi!"
-
I'd say "Go Home, You're Drunk"
-
Nuke it!
-
I would definitely not live under it. The idea seems neat at first, but if you think about: 1. There would be no sunlight. 2. What if it falls?
-
Cult making time !!
-
I would just chill and play Xbox. Then loot everything in sight lol...
-
To be Honest.....I would probably hide under my Duvet.
-
While everyone is busy staring up into the sky, I would get busy looting.
-
Shoot bullets at it. #IndependenceDay.

Edited by ELEMENTAL: 3/1/2014 7:45:46 AMIt's been stated that the Traveler tripled human lifespan during the golden age. I'd be pretty happy to let it stay as long as it wants.

Problem is humanity as a whole together is stupid. Nothing but a mindless animal. First thing most people and governments are going to do is shoot at it. All that does is initiate war. Remember all it takes is 1 to mess it up for everyone.

grab a stick = put on a blindfold and that is it.

America would overreact immediately and try to nuke it before it broke atmosphere. I for one would welcome our new Alien overlord.

Relatively interested. However, my guard would be up at all times not knowing its nature. Blindly accepting something as good is foolish. Tho we have a greater potential to learn, grow, and exceed our potential through alliance than reverse engineering. I'd be in the grey area till I learned more but would hope for the best and be as prepared as I could be for the worst.
