"There Are No Angels Among The Living, But There Are Those Who Choose To Fight The Demons"

Originally, I [The Founder] had not wanted ranks to be a part of what we do here. I assumed that any person with the ability to lead, should have the freedom to do so, and I assumed that sheer charisma could determine who outranked whom. This, however, could not work for long, for multiple reasons.
Newer members need a chain of command so that they know who to speak to when they have questions, besides myself. I cannot help everybody, obviously, as I cannot be everywhere at once [As hard as I may try, lol].
Just as the lower-downs need a chain of command, so, too, do the higher-ups. As the original leader of The Nephilim, I witnessed the truth in this in several ways.
The higher ups cannot do everything. As the Leader, I had originally expected to do everything myself, and I expected my members to expect this of me. The truth, however, was that my members only looked to me to ensure that there would always be somebody to help them, themselves. Whether that be myself or somebody else was irrelevant. Members just want answers, and a sense of solidity which only can be produced by a Chain of Command.
I, and all the leaders, need trusted members of lower rank to take care of the smaller issues for which we lack the time. It is through handling these smaller issues that one may advance in rank, and thus be free of having to deal with those issues, lest the higher-ranked individual in question has a subordinate that chooses to bring a recurring problem to said higher up. These problems must be dealt with swiftly, and ANY problem can advance through the chain of command straight to me, The Founder. Just know that if it gets to me, there will be a swift verdict, and it probably wont be pretty. So obey your superiors!
Mainly, though, people needed to feel as though they were accomplishing something. In response, I created the Divisions; Four-tiered systems that divided players up based upon skill and devotion to the clan. This, however, created a very slow progression rate, and people were still unsatisfied. In response to this; I installed a ranking system of seven unique ranks. [Recruit, Ensign, Marine, Sergeant, Captain, Aquila, and Dominus]. This, still, did not provide quick enough progression, and the ranks we were using were not recognized in the order which I and the other leaders had hoped. This required members to study the ranks and redefine what they considered each rank's level of authority. This caused me to switch to basic Army ranks, as they are easily recognized by all. The Divisions, which we wanted to keep, created a problem there, too. Because of this; each person restarts at Private if and when they advance or recede in Division.
Promotions and Demotions are handled exclusively by the Megistranis (plural of Dux, Eximius and Excepta) of each Division.
The Nephilim is initially divided into Sections, which are each devoted to a single game. Each section has Eximius and Excepta Megistranis, as well as an Honora Cohortis (Honor Guard) Division, a Guardianorum (Guardians) Division, and a Magna Vis (Main Force) Division.
It is important that this Chain be known and practiced by members, one and all, to ensure fluidity of operation and advancement.
Members who seem to take an extra interest in the chain of command are members that are more likely to advance quickly. [HINT HINT]
So, without further adue, I give you The Nephilim Organization's Chain of Command-
The Founder
Eximius Dux
Excepta Dux
Honora Cohortis
Guardianorum
Magna Vis
This is where it gets a bit complicated- Above are listed not ranks, but Divisions of The Nephilim which have many members of varying ranks within them. The Divisions above are listed in descending form, highest at the top and lowest at the bottom. [This seemed the least confusing to me]. Because different Divisions are at different levels of responsibility, the ranks within them become irrelevant when a member commands another member of lower division.
Example: A Corporal in The Honora Cohortis can give commands to a General of The Magna Vis, but not to a Sergeant of The Honora Cohortis because they are of the same Division, so rank matters there.
Basically, here is what I'm saying spelled out-
The Founder answers to nobody, regardless of rank and/or division.
The Eximius and Excepta Megistranis of each Section [I.E. Star Wars: The Old Republic Section, or the Halo 4 Section, which are the only two Sections at the time of this writing.] do not answer to anybody except The Founder, regardless of rank and/or division.
The Eximius Dux, or "Supreme Leader" commands his section with the Excepta Dux, or "Beside Leader" (Leader beside Eximius).
The Eximius Dux holds ultimate veto power over all in his Section, except The Founder, and is in command of the Excepta Dux, but will be expected to work alongside him, Excepta, as partners. Eximius has the right to choose any member of his section for the Excepta Dux position, and retains the right to "fire" him at any time, placing him into a Division and/or Squad of his, Eximius', choosing. This cannot be done, however, before a new Excepta is chosen to take his place. To ensure fairness, once an Excepta Megistranis is elected into position, he may not be disbarred without the approval of The Founder.
The Inquisitor Dux (Trusted Leader) is the rank of Branch leader, he/she can recruit, ban, promote, and order members for his/her branch. Inquisitor Dux can also command lower ranks from other branches but not ban, promote, or recruit people for another branch. Inquisitor Dux still answers to Eximius Dux and Excepta Dux. Regarding Honora Cohortis, Inquisitor Dux can promote members of [u]his/her branch only[/u], to this position, but Honora Cohortis that belong to The Founder are neither above nor below Inquisitor Dux and therefore get to choose if they want to follow the commands given by a Inquisitor Dux.
The Honora Cohortis, or "Honor Guard", of each Section does not answer to anybody except The Founder, the Eximius and Excepta Megistranis of their Section, or higher ranking members of The Honora Cohortis, regardless of rank and/or position.Honora Cohortis that are for The Founder can also choose to or choose not to follow the commands given by the Inquisitor Dux, but Honora Cohortis of the Inquisitor Dux must follow commands given by both The Founder and the Inquisitor Dux.
The Guardianorum, or "Guardians", answer to The Founder, The Eximius and Excepta Megistanis of their section, Any member of The Honora Cohortis regardless of rank, as well as higher ranking members of The Guardianorum. They do not answer to The Magna Vis, regardless of rank or squad.
The Magna Vis, or "Main Force", answers to the Eximius and Excepta Megistranis of their section as well as all members of the Honora Cohortis and Guardianorum, regardless of rank. They also answer to any member of The Magna Vis of higher rank.
Below I will provide the Army ranking system in descending order [highest at top] for those who do not know it by heart from playing COD, yet. XD
The Warrant Officer ranks as well as a few of the Sergeant's and General's ranks have been left out to avoid confusion, as the ranking system of The Nephilim may already be viewed as complex, at best. Below are listed the OFFICIAL ranks of The Nephilim;
General [SR 126-130]
Colonel [SR 117-126]
Lt. Colonel [SR 108-117]
Major [SR 99-108]
Captain [SR 90-99]
1st Lieutenant [SR 81-90]
2nd Lieutenant [SR 72-81]
Master Sergeant [SR 63-72]
First Sergeant [SR 54-63]
Sergeant First Class [SR 45-54]
Staff Sergeant [SR 36-45]
Sergeant [SR 27-36]
Corporal [SR 18-27]
Private First Class [SR 9-18]
Private [SR 0-9]
I realize that this system may seem a bit complicated- but it is uniquely designed so that MANY people can participate and feel as though they are progressing at a reasonable rate, to feel that they are being rewarded for everything that they do for The Nephilim.
Here's wishing you good luck in your advancement!
Sincerely,
