Story is hard. A great story can resonate with a person forever, but it doesn't mean they'll be engaged with it forever. It takes a lot of work to keep lore as an active part of a game. To a certain extent, fan derivatives will sustain themselves, but those hardly reach beyond their own border. On the other hand, a well built multiplayer can be timeless. You don't need huge updates. It doesn't have to be super fancy. If the core is good, you'll only ever need minor tweaks at the most. Street Fighter's still kicking strong after ages.

A story with twists and turns and new experiences every time. A lot of mystery to keep visiting worlds and battle sequences that will blow my mind. I think Bungie has got this in this!
-
I won't know until I play it.
-
It will need: 1) Years worth of interesting lore for me to uncover. 2) Competitive gameplay (Secondary, I prefer a good story). 3) Good level of customization 4) Reasons to go to locations I've already explored 5) Good gameplay
-
A rich exploreable world. A compelling story. A robust, challenging, rewarding end game. A compelling and rewarding character progression system. Fun and challenging co-op. Finally a challenging and rewarding multiplayer experience.
