Destiny has been getting a lot of negative press lately..

Is it just me, or is there a ton of negative reviews and just negativity in general surrounding Destiny? I honestly cannot seem to understand or agree..this is probably one of the best games I have been able to play in a long time. I hate to lump everyone into a single paradigm, but it seems that most of those that dislike the game or cut it down are individuals that don't get everything handed to them up front and complain about putting in time and playing the game just to play and enjoy it.. I don't get it.. I, for one, absolutely love this game and look forward to seeing it grow and evolve over the years..

  • I took a minute and mosey on over to read comments in Bungie news feed. There are plenty of unhappy gamers. Some make valid points while others just lack patience as the game slowly develops and expands.

  • I'm a fan of the game, I'm enjoying the heck out of it. I don't mind if someone says they don't like the game but to continue to day in and day out come back to the forums to make sure that everyone thinks the game is as bad as yourself doesn't make any sense to me. Why waste your time being negative on something? Go find something you like and talk about that, enjoy it and be positive.

  • I enjoy the game but there needs to be more to endgame than playing the same things over and over and raids and nightfalls being more accessible

  • The game it's self it great. I have enjoyed it very much. I would give it 2 star reviews because you can't connect to play it. I get kicked from so many various game types that at times its unplayable. I did all of there "attempts to fix" but none worked.

Dude screw the negativity this game is awesome, people are crying because they can't get a full set of legendary armor two weeks from launch. If I have to hear someone say "I've out it 40+ hours and only have one legendary to show for it" again im gonna lose it. This game type isn't for everybody and sadly a lot of the halo fans bought into this game and the hype without doing any research at all. Had they taken the time to play the open beta they would have realized this isn't anything like halo. They instead chose to blindly buy a game that they knew nothing about then proceed to fill these forums with hate remarks about the game and bungie. I saw one guy actually try to complain about the graphics. Like what?

    • I generally avoid shooters. I'm not good at the competitive ones and get burned out from the monotony. I don't care for MMOs or really any multiplayer. But this game is changing me. I played the beta for shits n giggles and realized I loved every minute of it. When the crucible became available I thought I would play for a match or two and then get annoyed and jump right back into single player campaigning. The crucible is now my favorite part. I'm actually getting better at competitive multiplayer and I'm actually enjoying it. I still don't plan on getting into any COD/Battlefield multiplayer, but I am definitely opening up to multiplayer and it's all because of Destiny. I love the game and it is honestly making me a better gamer. I know I sound lame, and I probably am lame. But I'm being honest, this game is awesome.

    • Gamers feel too entitled nowadays and want everything a game has to offer right up front. It's bad enough that these companies are over seeing the big picture, but Bungie clearly told everyone to not review the game so early. They will not see what is really meant to be seen. It's pretty much like a book. Destiny is going to be given to us, chapter by chapter, until we have the whole story. Not all at once like most games. Bungie has only released the "prologue" to Destiny. These reviews are based solely on this "prologue". Imagine if every book (or every tv show, or movie) was reviewed by only its prologue chapter (or first 5 minutes). How many would do good? Not many I know. People are overlooking things. Destiny has a very deep and cryptic story. It takes listening with your mind more than just your ears. Kotaku had a theory about Destiny. http://kotaku.com/a-wild-theory-about-destinys-story-1635090330 Maybe Destiny is deeper than any of us realize.

It is because they are reviewing the game based on hype which is not how it should be done. The only thing professional about these journalists is that maybe. .... MAYBE! They have a degree in journalism which says nothing about their ability to rate games. In fact it simply means they are capable of writing very persuasively even if what they are saying is false. They don't even have a set qualitative standards that can objectively rate games. There is nothing professional about their opinions. Besides, with all the corruption in game journalism recently I'm surprised anyone even pays attention to them.

      • What really annoys me in this game is the cheap way of forcing you to extend the time playing it. Example: 100 mark each week. Sometimes I feel like playing a "free to play" game but without the micro - transactions and I can see those comming. Something else is the false sense of freedom and diversity. Get the moon for example, three entrances to the same and only underground map and you keep comming back to the same place from different approaches. Planets maps are just a big linere level. You have absolutely no intraction between you and the surrounding beautiful world appart from you running into a wall while driving. What we expected from this game is much more than being a good shooter game, because shooting is the only enjoyable aspect at the moment. We will keep the feedback however. I really wish for this game to evolve and pave the way to a glorious (destiny 2)

      • I agree with you, the game is great and people forget to mention the positives about it when they find a problem. However the game isn't perfect at the moment, but still I'm enjoying it.

      • Honestly i think it has something to do with the hype and huge media coverage prior to the games release. I think the story is certainly underwhelming when considering what bungie is capable of in that department, but otherwise i love everything about this game If bungie had kept it more on the quiet side before release and left a bit more surprise i doubt all this negative press would have happened. Just my opinion though.

      • Talking to my friends who still play, and reading lots of coverage, I get the impression one of the main reasons for the initial negativity is the amount of people playing solo through the story on their way to 20. And I use the term "story" very loosely (another reason for the complaints). This game is, IMO and that of people I play with, not very much fun solo. This game is also an online-only game that has no in-game matchmaking for the story missions, and therefore most people (again, anecdotally) played the story solo. That is not a good combination if the idea is to give people a fun game to play. I don't think the generic mission designs of the story missions helped, or the sameness of them (Earth mission x 5, then Moon mission x 5, then Venus mission x 5, then Mars mission x 5 - with 2 trips to the Reef in there near the end) helped at all. But once you get to 20 and are doing lots of different things with other people the game gets fun. The game just gives you terrible tools to hook up with other people.

      • I have to think that the creative team that built the entire Halo series including ODST (done in a year) and Reach (solid supporting characters and voice acting) has more up their sleeves than what they've shown us. I've stopped thinking about this game like other games and movies, as in a self contained storyline. I'm putting it in the context of a TV series with a multipart pilot (AKA: Walking Dead, Lost, etc). All they've really done is introduce some supporting characters (speaker, stranger, queen,) and

I think the problem is the game tried to be all things to everyone which is impossible so parts came off as mediocre at best. For instance I couldn't care less if they took the crucible completely out and had a much more involved story with side missions to expand lore and background instead of dumping it all in a grimoire no one will bother to read. Others I'm sure don't give a flip about the story and wish all focus was on pvp. You can't give everyone what they want. Skyrim rules story, CoD/halo rule pvp, WoW/GTA5 rule social interaction. No way can this game try to do all three at the same time and even approach the standards set by these games. They tried and the result is mediocrity, playable and sometimes enjoyable mediocrity but mediocrity none the less.

        • You must like mindless repetition and not really care about narrative. This game is fun to play, but just like diablo 3 relies soley on mind numbing repetition to keep you playing... killing the same enemies who use exactly the same behaviors in exactly the same level time after time after time.... only to get purple or orange gear... for what? Where are all these hapless humans we are supposed to care about... why didnt the hive, vex, cabal etc just wipe us out... there is no sense of scale, no urgent fight. Its like they unlearned everything they did so well with Halo's story. The halo cinematics were awe inspiring, these are just a convoluted nothing. This game is a 500 million dollar investment/experiment into just how cow like you can make the average gamer.

            • And thats not to mention the complete mind numbing stupidity of "the darkness" as an enemy.... complete and utter garbage. In Halo or any other decent storyline the enemies are fleshed out, they have a reason for existing... here they exist only for something to shoot at.
