Story Missions

So, since my home internet has been shit since mid September, I decided that it was about time to finish off the story missions (that's really all my Wifi connection can handle). Talk about anti-climactic. Now I know this topic is probably all over everywhere, and I'm pretty positive that most people who bought this game are ripping Bungie a new one because of the lack of story line. But, I my friends, like to really look into things, I can be analytical at times and I find it had to believe that bungie; who is known for telling great stories would leave this one so lacking. So, to the point, I don't think the story ends in the Black Garden. I think there is more to the story than we are lead to believe. We all know that the upcoming DLC has some added missions, and I think that's what we can expect for the story to continue. I think it's going to be in Chapters, they have a whole world of lore and legends to work with... They can't just leave it like this.... I want more. Just my rant for the day... Chime in, I'm curious to see what you all think. See you out there BC

There was a story on the moon where we recovered a fragment of the traveler. I think they (bungie) will continue the story and open more areas of the solar system( and planets) and we will be recovering more parts and pushing our enemies back. I hope to see more recognizable parts of the earth opened up. The ability to choose different areas of the planets to go to, and expansion into the outer reaches of the system. After all, we do have grimoire cards for Saturn and Jupiter. I too am a PvE player. I'm enjoying the group(DoD) and the absence of sqeekers in the coop play.

  • I, too have been a fan of Bungie's work ever since their Doomish Marathon. I've seen/enjoyed what they gave us with the Halo IP, and got use to how deep the world they thought up and the content given in their games. Yet with Destiny, something just doesn't sit right with me. Yes, it looks, sounds, and plays like what I'd expect from Bungie, but something is very missing from this IP. There's no soul to it, instead we're forced to read about it on this website if we're curious to learn more about the world we're playing in. Yet even with that, something is still missing. All the years they've talked about making an epic that would even surpass the Halo universe, the budget, the partnership, all of that seemed like they had the makings for something great, but after playing what they gave us as the finished game, something was lacking, and it was more than content. They say they are planning for a 10 year game, but at the rate things are going, I'm not sure they or I'll make it past Christmas 2014. This game, for me, has disappointed me in a way that I'm not sure I can wait for an Expansion to improve upon, not to mention the fact that I have to pay more to get very little content. As an old PC MMORPG gamer, I've played games in the past that were built to last...*cough*WoW*cough*...and even those weren't perfect, but when they gave us seemed to work and made sense. The closest thing to come to those on the console to me thus far was Borderlands...nice story, lots of content, huge worlds, and the ability to play with friends or alone, and it all fit. Unfortunately these are the ways of game development now a days, and it annoys me greatly. Gone are the days of full complete games, with everything you need to know so that when you beat it, you felt a sense of accomplishment, and if you never played it again, you would still hold the memories of some of the moments you had to heart. Now it's micro-transactions to get the next chapter of the story, and I'm not cool with that. When I go to the movies, I pay for my ticket, and for goodies to enjoy while watching my movie, I shouldn't have to pay extra half-way into it to see the rest...maybe it's just me. Alas...while I will keep an eye on things to come, I'm not sure I'll get to finish this fight with all of you. Only time will tell... There's my mini rant... : )

  • I too was disappointed with the end of the current story. I like to think Destiny is a marathon (10 years?) and not a sprint. We Guardians burned through the content in a matter of weeks, some in a matter of days. I am finally feeling comfortable doing strikes, running the stories on harder difficulty, and of course the VoG. I am not much of a PvP player, but the next time the Iron Banner is around, I'll probably through down. I am hoping bungie delivers on their promise! See you among the stars guardians!

  • As a longtime fan of Bungie, I agree. I don't demand more. I expect more, though, in this new format. Think about the evolution of their games since "Finish The Fight". Bungie, sometimes, tears off more than they can chew - because they want to implement many great things. 'ODST' brought us Firefight and a short, engaging, story with a complimentary aural storyline and other cool interface and combat elements. 'Reach' continued the lore and brought things to another level. 'Halo 4', (343, I know, bear with me,) brought us episodic gameplay and more. Now, Destiny. Building, building, building on everything else they blazed trails on. They're just getting started. It may wind up being a choose your own story/ending, based on all of the races/factions/enemies. I'm enjoying replaying the story as different characters and exploring more. I prefer PVE and co-op, anyhow, so, I'm really digging this game.
