First let me be clear; this is not a walk through, but rather a set of ideas to keep in mind before you enter the vault.
The Vault of Glass can be a brutal, overwhelming onslaught. With patience, the right gear, and good communication it can be incredibly rewarding for you and those on your team. These tips should help you understand what to expect and may give you the edge you need.
1: Level up your gear!
A little preparation before attempting the vault could go a long way toward your success. Do what you can to unlock and upgrade all of your armor and weapons.
2: Know your teams!
It is best to separate into three teams of two and know your partner. Some areas require you to move into two teams of three. Practice moving in and out of these teams so that there is no confusion about where you should be at any given time. Try to work together synergistically. Place hunters in a team with a titan and so on. Weak players should have an experienced player with them etc.
3: Heavy Weapon Ammo Synthesis!
There are times when when taking down an enemy quickly is the only way to progress. Enemies are very stingy with their drops and unless you bring ammo synthesis with you it is likely you will have an enemy in your face with no ammo to send his way. Also stock up on heavies that do void damage. A Praetorian with heavy void shields will walk through your line like a bull through a wet paper sack so be prepared to take him down fast. Also don't be afraid to call out when you need help. One Praetorian can be difficult but there are times you may have to deal with two, or even three at a time.
3: Know the terrain.
Many was the time I fell to my death through a hole or just by running off the edge. Other times I ran to escape from concentrated enemy fire only to find myself trapped in a tight space with no where to go. There are spots where you can avoid enemy fire but your best bet is to keep moving.
4: Patience!
Be patient with yourself. Each section of the vault may take several attempts to clear. Refine your tactics, regroup, and try again. Having a plan before you go in is great but don't be afraid to revise your tactics as you go. Having the vault explained to you and experiencing the vault for yourself are two very different levels of understanding.
5: Try to have fun!
Straight from third grade, this last bit of advice is just a reminder. The vault is tough, and can wear down your resolve. It might also be the most fun you'll have in gaming. So relax. Soon enough you'll be entertaining people with your tales of heroism and hijinks, boasting of your prowess, and possibly sporting some unique gear as well.
So relax, enjoy the ride. It's worth it.
