I'm a huge car fan. I own three, and want more. I love driving, working on and modifying cars. However recently to do medical issues I've been banned from driving. This happened in August and it's been driving me crazy. I'm 22 years old and a senior in college so I feel like I'm back in middle school now. Thanks to these medical issues I also have little energy to do the activities I enjoy. I miss driving and I just miss cars. Anyway has anyone else had to deal with an issue like this?

While I'm not medically hindered at the moment, I'm floating in the same boat man. I own a 2000 v6 mustang and bought an 03 Mustang GT back in 2014 as a Weekend Cruise car and literally the day after I did an oil change along with other fluid changes and found a knocking sound coming from the engine. So at that time I hadn't a clue what to do so I took it to a local ford dealership. Worst decision ever and they said it was coming from the transmission... they got it wrong. Anyway fast forward to a couple months ago; me and my father are in our garage ripping the car apart. I was always a car person but never had hands on experience until this time. So this was a great thing. And I figured, "hey since i'm here, why not mod the car a bit?" Bought bigger cams, better clutch, intake manifold, headers with an xpipe, and a flowmaster catback exhaust, CAI and bigger throttle body, new hood, bumper, mirrors all of which need to still be painted, still needs a custom tune, bigger injectors, coil on plug kit, fuel rails, etc. The worst and best decision. However, it's getting to the point now where I have to save money. At 20 years old working part time and full time in college it's hard to find the time and money to work on the car. And while my father said he'd work on the car without me if I said it was ok, i want to learn and get the father son bond from working on the car. So long story short, the project slowly grinding along and for the past two years it's sat in a garage and has slowly been getting worked on. I haven't heard the car in a year and a half and it's killing me. It sucks not being able to drive the cars you love the most let alone drive in general and I can imagine and feel for what you're going through. I hope everything works out for the best just know they're waiting for you when you're all better! And when you get back into the drivers seat you'll have the biggest smile on face! We're all rooting for you! Have a great one!

Can't relate to driving, but I couldn't walk for around 3 months. That was shit, but it'll get better when you're back to your best

Read up and learn. If you can't work on cars and drive them, get more knowledge so that when you are capable again, you're better. Plus, it'll feel more preoductive and rewarding than just sitting around doing something you don't want to do.

Try go-carts?

That sucks man

Sorry to hear that Porsche. I've got a friend who's a brewer and he can't drink alcohol at all anymore due to his epilepsy that just hit him in his early thirties. It sucks when something you're passionate about gets taken away from you like that. I really hope they can figure out what's wrong and find a way to get you back on the road soon. In the meantime there's Forza right?

Edited by Cobravert: 10/28/2016 4:03:53 PMI had pneumonia for a month one time. I didn't miss driving because I didn't feel like doing anything. Sorry you're having to deal with this and hopefully the doctor(s) can get you the help you need. Also, Whatever moron keeps down voting every thread, TAKE A BREAK. Just because you may not find a subject to your interest, no need in down voting threads that are not breaking any rules.

I'm a bike guy and a car guy... Not really in the same boat as you.... But I had to put my bike away for the winter the other day ... And I'm kinda sad about it because I'm planning on buying a new one in the spring... So there's that...but I mean I've never been in ur situation, but whenever I feel the urge to spend a lot of money modding my daily, I just mod one of my rc cars instead. It fills the urge and I save a lot of money... I swear I don't even drive em lol I just like building them and supping them up. So my advice would be check out building an rc, or grab a different hobby that's car related.

Yes buy me a car...
