So my mom's current car is a giant pos GMC envoy. It's given us nothing but trouble and we're tired of fixing it. I've been thinking of some options but I'd like some of your suggestions. The budget is about 10k, car has to be an suv or have really good ground clearance. Has to be reliable, and has to be an automatic. No mazda's either.

Edited by SGT Pogie Bait: 8/14/2015 1:52:41 AMI've a 2002 Jeep Liberty 4x4, V6. Comfortable, good clearance, driver sits high, decent mpg (20). Daughter has a 2004 Jeep Liberty Columbia edition. Each cost under $5k used. Both needed new brakes, headlights (scum on lens) & tires. So, about $1k put into each. They're small 4dr SUVs and I've had no issues. She could get up a 2009 in real good condition for about 8-10k.

SUV's are good mom cars

Get a 74 auto stick super beetle. No clutch all you have to do is shift. Good ground clearance the things will go anywhere. Very cheap I bought a 73 for 2250 in good condition. They are very dependable cars and if taken care of properly will last another 40+ years
