So 343 is planning on releasing their sandbox update on June 3rd and has decided to show it off via live stream inviting several prominent Halo community members to try it out.
Weapon Changes
-BR is now a 4sk (11 bullets), rate of fire reduced
-Magnum damage buffed slightly still 6sk
-Carbine now a 7sk, spread reduced
-DMR red reticle range reduced
-Light Rifle scoped rate of fire increased
-Automatic weapon damage increased, aim assist reduced by 50%
Vehicle Changes
-Warthog/Mantis chainguns damage buffed 35%

I guess the chaingun buff is better than nothing, but the real issue with vehicles is the fact that they're made of paper. Why not do something about that? 343, as usual, refuses to go after the source. As for the other stuff, carbine and magnum are still useless, BR is a lateral move, depending on how much the light rifle RoF is increased it could become the king of the sandbox. Not that that's a problem for me, multiple utility weapons is lawlfail. Matchmaking's hopeless but I still have some occasional fun in customs. These can make custom gametypes better at least. Of course if I could get Halo PC working again I wouldn't have to give a shit either way.

This shit happens when you DON'T have BETAS!

BR 4sk? I might play Halo 4 regularly now if that's true.
-
Automatic weapon damage increased
NO!
Aim assist reduced by 50%
Yes!

Edited by BerzerkCommando: 5/18/2013 2:09:25 PMEven with the buffs it's still not enough to make me want to play the game as much as I did with Halo 3. Halo 3 has maps that I enjoy playing on and the custom games are fun because of the maps. Halo 4 has none of that. There's no map in that game that I like. Also because of them butchering infection I don't see myself playing custom games all that much. Infection is the main game type I play for custom games.
-Carbine now a 7sk, spread reduced.
Is that now on the same level as the Halo 2 or 3 one? If it's not then it's still the useless weapon as it is now.
-Warthog/Mantis chainguns damage buffed 35%
To me the Warthog gun is fine. The only thing I would change about it is the reticule. I find it a little too small and awkward to aim with. I wish they do something else with the boltshot. I would either make the charge shot drop your shields. And if you have any shield damge then the remainder would get carried over to your health. Or I would leave the charge shot the same and make it only useful inside melee range like the Gears 3 sawedoff.

I personally have a great deal of disrespect for any developer who makes an unpolished game, ships it, and has to release a update to tweak weapon stats. It's unprofessional; it shows they didn't playtest their own game enough, or weren't truly impartial about some of the issues that affect gameplay in a negative way. I first encountered this with Brink a couple years ago now. A few months after launch, Splash Damage tweaked a number of stats like bloom and damage and really mucked up the game for me. Now 343i, after hanging Halo players out to dry, finally declares their game so borked that they have to dedicate an entire update plus advertising media campaign to fixing those issues to seduce players back? Hope to hell they actually address the real issues. If they don't, they'll implode on their own self-importance as the fanbase abandons them for a developer who can actually make quality games on the first try, listen to their community's reaction, and tweak the game in a meaningful way that doesn't force you to relearn how to play the game all over again. Which is why you, dear reader, and I are here at Bungie, and not Waypoint.

BR is 4 shot again? My god the community are idiots, thats going to spoil the game

Edited by Vampire Nox: 5/18/2013 4:33:21 PMI wonder what disability the Master Chief will have this time? Polio? MS? 343 lolIndustries... idiocy like this doesn't come along every day..

Watching 343's feeble attempts to bring back players isn't even laughable now, it's depressing.
-
Some of these sound like good changes, and I don't mean to blunt and ever-ignorant towards 343i - but it is a little damn late don't ya think?
-
I don't care. I gave up halo 4 a long time ago.
-
People still play Halo 4?
-
Even though 343 made some really stupid decisions regarding Halo 4, I'm still pleased to see that they're at least attempting to actively patch and update the game. Maybe it's too late for this sort of thing, but I can respect that they're trying.
-
Get this crap out of here.
-
The DMR has no real point in the multiplayer as it sorta ruins the point of an option, why use the close range BR when you can kill faster and more accurate, why use the Lightrifle when you can shoot faster and at a near equal range?
-
I am not currently thrilled with Halo 4 to say the least but some of these changes (as well as some already implemented ones) are some of the things this game needs to get back on its feet. It won't be perfect, but neither was Halo 2 or Reach when they were first released. I know 343i has been taken their time with this but some things aren't always immediate, Reach took a while too.

Edited by Pfhortnite: 5/17/2013 8:50:22 PMWhy are they livestreaming an update?

Edited by God: 5/17/2013 9:04:37 PMI seriously think they're going the wrong way with this. The weapon sandbox as it is now is almost perfect except for the DMR, but they are changing every weapon except the one that is causing the problems? Besides the sandbox is one of the areas they really got right in the first place, why are they prioritizing this over bringing back gametypes like one-sided objective or expanding custom options? That would bring back way more players than completely revamping a sandbox that is already fine as it is.
