Anything to do with ancient times in Rome/Greece ect. actually. Have been reading all about greek demigod heros, stories of incestous gods, and Titan wrath for the past few weeks. Plus I've watched Disney's hercules about 4 times in the past 3 days.
Anybody know any good books and movies having to do with this stuff?

Started a new topic: I think I'm obsessed with Norse mythology stuff

Clash of the Titans, the 1981 version.

Have you read the Iliad or the Odyssey?

I just finished up my classical mythology class for college. Some good reads would be the odyssey, hesiod's theogony, the Aeneid, Seneca's thyestes, Euripides, Sophocles, whoever wrote Oedipus.. My favorite class/professor to date.

So am I. I go on spurts where I nerd rush myths for a few days, pretty much constantly when I am not working. I particularly like the primordial gods, the Gigantomachy and Titanomachy. Which is interesting, because I personally DETEST the Olympians for their many crimes against...well pretty much everything. Other good myth cycles: Vedas, especially Mahabharata (this one redefines epic IMO), the Volsunga Saga, Gilgamesh, Cthulhu (I'm counting this, do something), Incan. Just look around, there are a bunch f good ones, old and new.

Read the Percy Jackson books, those are amazing and are all about Greek mythology.

Read the Eddas. Nordic myth> Greek myth

The Histories by Herodotus The History of the Pelopnnesian War by Thucydides Must reads for anyone with an interest in Ancient Greece. The first book details the history of Greece and is pretty much the only account for the Greek-Persian Wars. The second book describes the most momentous war of the time, between Sparta and her allies, and Athens and her "allies"/tributaries.

Read The Bacchae from Euripides.

STOP. NOW. There's this girl in my school who doesn't shut the fuck up about it; she's the most irritating cunt I know.

I don't know any good texts concerning Greek mythology exclusively, but Bulfinch's Mythology covers all sorts of legends and myths from various cultures.

I hope you realize that the Disney movie Hercules is insanely chopped and screwed. JS.
