Query:Do Unggoy in Jul 'Mdama's covenant remnant belong to a certain subspecies or are they genetically bred?
Query Answer: Human [Lifeworker] records found in accessible [frumentarii] cores do not indicate extensive [genecraft] modifications by [Covenant] [Lifeworkers]. Rudimentary [forensic] analysis of indexed [monachus frigus] geneplan records and [epigenetic] studies recorded by Human [Lifeworkers] show anomalous phenotypic plasticity, in addition to conclusive evidence of strong genetic structure in selected [Covenant] combatants known to be sourced from specific [breeding] zones. This indicates either prolonged genetic drift in refugia populations or induced selection.

ONI records do not indicate extensive genetic tampering of Grunt genetics by Covenant scientists. Quick analysis of indexed Grunts along with human studies show non-standard exterior variability, in addition to conclusive evidence of hardy makeup in selected Grunt soldiers which are known to originate from specific breeding locations. This indicated either prolonged genetic drift in populations existing in unfavorable conditions or induced selection.
There you go.

I don't mind how the grunts look. Now the elites, yeah I like Halo 1-3'a way more.
-
Master Chief's armor must've gotten some genetic drift too.
-
I find it quite sad how 343 takes time to make a decent explanation only to be met with criticism yet Bungie can cite space magic as a reason for breaking physics and there is no problem.
-
For all you illiterate folks here, what this means is, the Grunts in Halo 4 come from what you would call a strong gene pool. A certain area with more notable, better traits in grunts was selected on whatever world they came from, and they were allowed to breed, strengthening and keeping their gene pool active, while it was likely grunts with a less desirable gene-pool weren't allowed to breed. So, in essence, if there were a spartan program for grunts, these guys would be in it because their genes and genetic traits are better than those of grunts found elsewhere on the world they came from.

The canonical explanation is definitely awesome, but they still look like shit in Halo 4.
-
Still look like shit, but I like that they're finally addressing this... Now for the dinosaur jackals
-
Or...
We wanted to make them scarier.
-
I kind of like how that look. They look more like something you would find in a swamp.
-
If only they put this much effort into making the multiplayer good.

Edited by Fallen Hero: 7/31/2014 1:12:13 AMI more so have a problem with the different armor/ventilator. Seeing the tube go in there nose just reminds me too much of dying grandpa.
jk But I don't really care as much about the exo skeleton as I do the face mask. I preferred not seeing their mouth unless I melee'd or shot it off.

I just looked at the picture real good and I don't like the forearms or knee down with the bigger darker scales. It looks off to me.
Edited by BannedLemön: 7/30/2014 7:08:56 AMEnglish version that's understandable: In-game canonical explanation
The Unggoy in Halo 4 are a different breed than the ones in previous Halo games.
Reality explanation
Because of artistic design
Edited by MastaSin: 7/30/2014 4:03:57 AMBad/Lazy design. That's what they look to me.
-
Well that's cool. I only hope that the UNSC would've been able to successfully translate the language of this other breed of grunts by the time Halo 5 comes out. I want to hear all their funny words and shrieks of terror, like in Halo 3 :D
-
They look different? show me a comparison.......
-
Edited by Jono: 7/26/2014 11:35:06 PMI miss the old Grunts, before they learned how to charge a Plasma Pistol.
-
They're still just as fun to kill.
-
Just when I thought I understood some English I see this..
-
That explains the weird looks huh. I would like to see how the grunts will look in future installments, same goes for the brutes.
-
Eh, I still hate Halo 4 and 343s version of Halo with a burning passion
-
While I think they should have just said it was artistic licenses, an explanation is alright by me.
-
They used to be scared of master chief now not any more
-
Edited by Nightshrike: 7/29/2014 3:43:30 PMA much more reasonable explanation than the one about the Master Chief's armor being altered by nanobots. However, I don't understand why they've bothered to come up with all these explanations to justify the changes they've made. Why not just say that it's a simple retcon? Just 343i's interpretation of Halo's Universe? I actually prefer the look of the new Grunts, and I do like the look of the Master Chief's armor in the Reclaimer Saga too.
-
So that's why they look like Krogans now.
-

studies recorded by Human [Lifeworkers] show anomalous phenotypic plasticity

Strange why all the Grunts in Halo 4 look identical.

Edited by BannedMythicAccount: 7/29/2014 12:46:01 PMHalo 4 is a reboot sequel. The visuals [and other things, like gameplay and game engine] complement the reboot aspect, while the story is a sequel because it's a continuation of the saga. The attempt to explain the visual difference for the character models to fit in canon just waters down the quality of the Halo universe. [because it is a forced explanation, done to appease transition rather than to appeal to quality] In the end, Halo is science-fiction. Everything is made up and can be subject to change anytime. Depending on the writers and artist involved. So honestly, there's very little to be found in searching for a legit answer to why Halo 4 is the way it is [in terms of armour, character etc] compared to the past games.

I think is Because: they made the skin to like visible and realistic, they have weird armor.
