A satellite dish is shaped like a parabloid of revolution, the signals that emanate from a satellite strike the surface of the dish and are reflected to a single point, where the receiver is located. If the dish is 16 feet across at its opening and 2 feet deep at its center. At what position should the receiver be placed?
How do you solve this and what is the answer?
EDIT: Okay, after applying (8,2) to the formula y=(1/4z)x^2 the answer is z = 8. Thank you all who helped.

y=(1/4z)x^2 ; (16,2) Plug in and solve.
parabloid of revolution
what?

I'm going to assume it's an elliptic paraboloid, it should be easy to find the focus of the satellite dish?

It's simple, really.
