At beginning of the "next" generation of consoles.
The XboxOne was a disappointment.
Ps4 was a success.
Fast forward to 2016, Ps4 still a success, Microsoft crawling their way back to the top.
The Xbox one slim should've been what the Xbox one should've looked like from day one!
Ps4 is releasing their Ps4 pro, without warning and months away from release.
Everyone is shocked and disappointed because.
- It was revealed out of no where.
- It isn't going to be released around the same time as the next Xbox meaning it isn't going to be as powerful. It's always all about the "graphics"
- Possible pay for updates.
- It's coming out way too soon.
I remember predicting back when Ps4 was winning.
The only way the Xbox one can come up on top once again is if the next next generation probably 5 years from now is more powerful and better than its rival otherwise they've lost many die hard fans.
Or
If Sony screws it up by releasing the next next generation of consoles too early.
Microsoft doesn't need the Xbox, they can cut everything any time and quit the gaming industry, because they're a software making company they don't need the Xbox.
However Sony, needs the PlayStation, they need to make every instalment a success.
If they pull a Microsoft they can go bankrupted or go back to selling expensive Tvs with the logo "Sony" on it.

The PSPro (which some idiot decided to make it have the same initials as the PSP) is not part of the new generation. It won't compete with XBOX1Scorpio (Again, has same initials as XBOX1S, forcing me to type it out) Sony's next console, which will likely be more powerful, will compete with it, but despite the difference in power the Scorpio will have already gotten a head start in sales, so I cannot actually predict anything about the 9th generation.
-
Sony already screwed up with increasing the price for PS plus, and they still have crappy service. Lol
-
Inb4 xbox turns a PC sideways and calls it the "next generation" console
-
The Scorpio will absolutely destroy the pro, hell the "one s" is even better and it wasn't supposed to be. Sony lost this generation just as they did during 360 vs ps3 era. They will be back on top when they release the ps5.
-
Its the same as last generation where the 360 was way ahead of the PS3 at the start, but near the end both systems had similar sales numbers. Now Xbone is behind but in the end they'll catch up to the PS4. I don't understand why people would think that if one console does well the others will go bankrupt, both systems do well and make their company's a lot of money, the only one in trouble at the moment is Nintendo, they are still in the black but are losing momentum fast, if the NX does poorly I will predict they will leave the homeconsole market in its entiretly and focus purely on the handhelds...maybe that is what they are already doing with the NX.

Bump 4 sol sol

You know, Microsoft has announced a new Xbox one as well. Microsoft isn't doing generational consoles anymore. They are doing upgrades instead, that way backwards compatibility is a thing of the past.
-
Eeeh it might come back up but honestly people still have all those ps4s that were sold. The only really downer about ps4 pro is the very specific no bluray 4k disc drive (which one, most movies would be up for stream and physical copies are on the way out, and two I feel like if youre dumping money in a ps4 pro and a 4k tv, chances are youre fine getting a cheap bluraynplayer). Im also convinced PSVR is more accessible than hololens. However, Scorpio is looking beefy and people like new things. Xbox is starting to develop a nice collection of exclusives finally and wouldnt be surpised if xbox vs playstation starts to become more neck and neck again. My two cents anyway. Theres a part of me that really wants NX to swoop in and take everyone by surprise but we'll see lmao. Zelda is looking big and rumors sound like console and handheld are merging which is huge for Pokemon. That alone would push console sales. Heres to hoping Nintendo realizes the guns they have finally haha
-
The next gen systems I think Microsoft will do very well. As soon as Phil Spencer got in charge the xbox has only been getting better, they just had a bad start. The Scorpio i think will bring a lot of gamers over to Microsoft's side. I think Sony will still lead, but who knows right now? Microsoft is inching their way back into the competition. Sony has been messing up a lot recently.
-
Bruhhh.
-
In terms of exclusive titles, Sony is and always will win. Children argue about graphical capabilities. 4K resolution doesn't even matter on the screen size people use on average. What matters is everything else that gets upgraded with 4K (colors, anti-aliasing, etc.). If you're big into FPS games, go Xbox. If you want to play literally anything else, go PlayStation. If you want to play all the things with mods, go PC.
-
You all need to stop freaking out over this. This is not a new console generation, the new consoles run the same games and the main new gen consoles will continue being the development standard probably until around the end of the generation if not the whole way. These are essentially pointless unless you're really worried about the best hardware capabilities and currency, in which case you'd be using a gaming PC primarily and it wouldn't matter. I'd be very surprised if there ended up being any point whatsoever to these new consoles past Microsoft trying to dig themselves out of the hole they dug in 2013.
-
At the current pace, Scorpio is going to bury the Pro. Sony keeps having bad PR moment after bad PR moment.
-
You know the pro and Scorpio aren't next gen
-
I like how this guy pretends to know anything about the companies Microsoft and Sony... As if Sony goes bankrupt because of PlayStation lmao

Edited by BeanTwenty3: 9/17/2016 3:08:15 PMThese aren't he next generations dude there very smaller insignificant updates, the Xbone and ps4 still function as if nothing has changed its a pure option of choice Revealed out of no where? No it was neither of them were "Sony needs the PlayStation" The PlayStation is in fact a separate umbrella of Sony so if Sony themselves go under the PlayStation Carries on like nothing happened, as its a pure profit of Sony - they moved and made this separation a few years ago. As for Microsoft Xbox is only still around as Microsoft decide to keep finding it with there oodles and oodles of cash - without Microsofts support from elsewhere the Xbox would be dead as its been making a loss for years now (prior to this generation) - the "top" statistics come from American soil only Sony draws from the global market as thier console is in fact more successful than the Xbox in most countries outside of its native one. Now does that mean I'm saying one is better than another? No it doesn't as its pure opinion or who has more friends on what one or what exclusives you prefer when you go to purchase one, I'm just providing you with more info as your post appears clueless

What do you mean release PS4 pro without warning . It had been rumored to exist prior to E3 under the code name NEO
-
You have no idea what you're talking about. Stay in Off Topic. People will probably appreciate your ramblings in that place.

Edited by easydoesitEZ: 9/17/2016 12:05:29 AMThe Pro was leaked back in February or something. It definitely didn't come out of nowhere. Sony was supposed to officially announce it at E3 but tucked their tail when they found out Microsoft was going to announce the much more powerful Scorpio. All people would've talked about was how weak the Pro would be if they had announced it when they originally planned. PS will put something out more powerful than the Scorpio in two or three years, and then Microsoft will do the same. Traditional console generations are dead. Now that the console architecture is so similar to PC, it's much easier and cheaper to do so. Also, neither Microsoft nor Sony are going anywhere unless someone new enters the console market and edges them out. There's plenty of room for the big two. And Microsoft absolutely needs the Xbox. There's more money in it than just the face value console sales. It's used as a platform to supplement Windows 10 and push the Microsoft brand. In a market that's seeing people leave Windows for OSX and Linux in droves, the Xbox brand is huge for maintaining the Microsoft status quo as the quintessential software provider. tl;dr Nothing you said makes much sense at all in reality.

Two words for you, OP: Shut. Up.

Edited by moist nana: 9/17/2016 7:49:01 AMThe Xbox Scorpio isn't going to "help" Microsoft get ontop, if anything it'll be an Xbox360 vs PS3 type scenario ie:- you can get a good cheap product now or wait a year and pay top $ for a better machine. Eventualy the PS3 DID outsell the 360, but that's only because the console generation was so long, i doubt that'll happen again with rumors the PS5 will drop late 2018. What's helping Microsoft is Sony EFFING up. The Xbox one s has a 4k player and Skyrim Remasterd with mods, Xbox might start outselling PS before the Scorpios even released!
-
After xbox got its first month of more sales sony started fumbling the ball with raising psn . Still bringing dumb free games (except journey) and chose to let only xbox have mods (harming relations with bethesda fans and those that planned on getting the skyrim remaster)
-
Ps4 pro and Xbox Scorpio will most likely have the same graphics. The real killer is the 4k blueray player in the new xbox. But I don't really care. I'm not buying either. And if I were to choose, I'd go with pspro only because it's going to make psvr better (I'm getting one)
-
There will not be a 'next generation' of Xbox. Microsoft has switched to iteration releases.
-
God I'm glad I UPGRADED to PC
-
Next gen essentially starts next year and with these new consoles coming out some people were classing them as the 9th gen incarnations, however in the announcement they seemed to mention this gen a lot and with the release being this year perhaps they wanted to move away from their console being classed as such
