Dragons ain't got shit on Wyverns.
A wyvern (/ˈwaɪvərn/ WEYE-vərn), sometimes spelled wivern, is a legendary winged creature with a dragon's head (which may be said to breathe fire or possess a venomous bite) and wings; a reptilian body; two legs (sometimes none); and a barbed tail. A sea-dwelling variant, dubbed the sea-wyvern, has a fish tail in place of a barbed dragon's tail. The wyvern in its various forms is important to heraldry, frequently appears as a mascot of schools and athletic teams (chiefly in the United States and United Kingdom), and occasionally appears in medieval and modern European and British literature as well as a multitude of video games. It is often mistaken for a dragon, which often has four legs and a pair of wings, as opposed to a wyvern, which has no more than two legs and a pair of wings.
For the sake of discussion (rather than argument), I would have to disagree on the topic's sentiment. Typically, in the various fictional universes I've encountered, dragons tend to be larger, stronger, and more intelligent mythical creatures than wyverns. They are also much more often associated with adjectives such as "powerful", "regal", and even "noble". On top of all this, they tend to be more aesthetically pleasing than their two-legged cousins, where the former shares many visual qualities and mannerisms similar to felines or canines while the latter takes after bats. Allow me to finish this post off by saying that I am of a VERY biased opinion when it comes to such a topic, but I can certainly appreciate views that differ from my own. So, in the spirit of good will, here are a couple of images that I find to put both beasts in question in a fairly positive (badass) light.
